Picked up my Steel Gray WRX TR today!

I'm not exactly a newbie, and some of you may remember this previous thread of mine:

Looking for advice: '06 WRX TR or RX-8 6MT?

I've literally been running on adrenaline since taking delivery earlier today just before noon. Definitely very pleased in every way with my new WRX TR: the purchasing experience at Pence Subaru was A+; my salesman Bill Fallon was straight forward an honest throughout the entire process; my wife and I were in-and-out in roughly 75 minutes; my new car looks amazing and moves like lightning!

The new 2.5L turbo engine in the '06 WRXs is a torque monster and makes the car a breeze to drive off-boost around town and on the highway. I took her along a few twisty backroads and there's definitely a lot less body roll compared to my former SVX. However, the driving position doesn't feel as *sporty* since I'm sitting more upright in a 4 door sedan compared to a low slung SVX.

Looking forward to SCCA D-stock autoX competition this year!

    -Chike

Thanks guys! I'll take great care of her. I'm keeping the revs below 4,000 rpms and already bought two oil filters in anticipation of doing my first oil change at the end of the break in period.

good choice...rx8 haha... my x gfs dad had one that had every option on it, even the factory body kit, her bros best friend had a wrx, i would elaborate on the talks and such between all of us ( i used to own a low 13 high 12 second mustang) we were all car guys. but my current gf is right next to me, anyway, her bros best friend w/ cobb stage 2, made all of us envious.... not faster, but better drivers car. with that 2.5 and the significant gains you can get from a cobb now, ya.. i want one. but my 05 will do. good choice and happy motoring.

edit~ not faster, meaning not faster than my mustang. but, obviously, since i now own a wrx, i did like driving the wrx better.

Thanks for the +ve comments everyone. Btw, the options I got with my TR were:
    -spoiler
    -wheel locks
    -turbo boost gauge

I can't do any significant upgrades over the next 9 months as I need to keep my car SCCA D-stock legal. I'll probably do little stuff like swap in an STI axle back muffler and get a high flow panel filter. Will also look into adding a short throw shifter. I'll also need to pick up a spare set of wheels and some R-compound tires.

The intercooler isn't black - it's just the same as the one used on the '04+ FXT with the plastic endtanks.

Nice one! I like the look of the 06 better than all of the other WRXes. I test drove a bunch of WRXes and it came down to an 06 TR or a modded 02 with 44K miles and a new engine. I liked the way the 02 drove so we passed on the 06. No second thoughts, but I still like the way the 06 looks!
