Question Wanting to buy 02-03 WRX NEED ADVICE HAVE QUESTION

I want to buy a 02-03 WRX but I am really doing lots of research before I purchase one. My main question is CAN YOU FIX THE CLUTCH SHUTTER?

    What to Look For?
How to tell if its been driven hard?
How often do they require service?
Is the Gas mileage really 20city-30 hwy?
    Tire ware?
    AWD in snow?

Thanks for the help and please only answers and keep the smart ass comments to yourself

Apparently the dealership will fix the shutter for free but it requires that they put in a heavier flywheel. I passed. The shutter isn't that bad.

Look for modifications. Modified cars are generaly driven hard.

To tell if it has been driven hard look for exessive tire wear and marks on the undercarrige to see if it has been bottomed out or jumped. Check the engine fluids to see if they maintained the car.

To tell if it has been modifed and then put back to stock you would have to get really familiar w/ what the engine bay and suspension are supposed to look like. Then look for tell tail signs of popular modifications like intake, boost controller, bov, exhuast, rear swaybar, etc..

They don't have to be serviced any more often than other modern cars. Change your oil at least every 3,000mi. You should probably use synthetic fluids too, just like any performance automobile.

I see about 27/31 mpg. cty/hwy at stage 2. The WRX requires high octane fuel. I get 92 octane (best I can get localy).

Tire wear should be normal. Get the alignment checked just to be sure, and rotate the tires regularly. AWD will wear out the front tires more than the rears, especialy when you drive agressively.

    SUBARUS ROCK IN THE SNOW!!!!!!!111!!11111!111!

I have owned 3 subarus and still have 2 of them. Mine have proven to be VERY reliable. My WRX has 80,000+miles and runs great. So does my '92 Legacy w/ 150,000+.

    Hope this helps, happy searching.
