    New WRX driver

I just purchased a 2004 WRX. I'm kind of new to the whole turbo thing. I recently owned a 01 civic and I really dont know too much about the WRX. I am a former auto mechanic and i really never had to work on them. If anybody has any ideas about the first things I should do, I appeciate it. I dont want to "rice" my car up, but I am willing to do some minor mods, (turbo timer, shift kit etc.) Any ideas are cool. Thanks.

"Good first mods" sticky - start reading up on parts, then use the search feature and input the parts you want to read up on and you will see a lot of threads about that specific part you're looking into. Have fun reading! I hope this will help you on your search.

Here's a great FAQs from another Suby forums.

Congrats and welcome to the family!

I agree 04.SPT.WRX, read up. Many of the common mods that work on other cars can hurt the performance of a WRX. Do your research and it'll pay off.

to be totally honest, I want to keep my car as stock as possible. Its fast enough for me when it came off the assembly line.

    and welcome to the club!!!

I agree that mods are like a bag a chips, you can never have just one!!!

But if you're happy with performance right now and don't want that to change, there are some nice cosmetic mods you can do to fulfill that itch, such as:

    --HID or similar halogen lights
    --Tinting
    --Wheels
--Better tires (no one likes the stock ones)
    --Ipod integrated sound-system
    --Navigation system
    --DVD player
--Boost gages, etc. and a pillar or dash gauge pod
--Debaging the trunk (removing the Subaru emblems)
    --STi hood scoop
    --STi trunk swap
    --Short-shifter
--STi seats or similar racing seats

You can definitely browse the picture threads for neat ideas! Congrats and have fun!

just dont paint your car pink... or get a set of custom plates to match. that idea has been patented by our speedette.
