Doing research before the big buy

Hello everyone, im going to be getting a 04 or 05 STI in the next month or so, i just have some techinal questions that i rather have aswered by people that actually own and drive the car everyday, the car is going to be a daily driver so i would like to know as much as possible about it, i have had bad experiences with cars and im tired of it. ok here we go.

    1) Reliability? please comment, personal experiences and such
    2) gas?
    3) Throtle, by cable or electronic TB?
    4)price for parts? maintenance parts
5)is the block aluminum or cast iron? does it have factory forged internals?

i think thats all i have for now, i would appreciate any other advice or comments beyond the questions.
    thanks alot

    Good Choice

After driving a whole lot of cars i love my subaru, more reliable then anything, dont buy one with alot of mods, try to shoot for low milage and try to see what the car feels like, a used car should feel like it was cared for and loved by the previous owner, but this is the most fun you can have on four wheels, as far as gas i cant really comment because of my mods and driving style, good luck, when you get it post some pics

If you've read the forums, you'll probably notice that the only real reoccuring reliablity issue is with the 02-03 wrx tranny, but the STI's seems to be perfect. But other than that, i have heard only good things about the Reliablity of the STI. Gas, on the other hand, is not all that great... lower than the EPA mileage on the sticker. If you're really concerned about having good gas milage...get a prius!
