    New :D

Hey im new to these forums. I just got an 05 WRX about a week ago and i plan on putting some mods on it. Im not too educated on car mods so i figured joining forums would help. I was thinking exhaust would be cool for sound, even though it only adds about 5 HP. I have about 500-600 dollars to spend by the end of the year and i was curious as to what would give me the best performance without voiding my subaru warranty. Another quick question, does a blow-off valve add any horsepower, or is it just for the sound, and if it does, around how much does it add? Thanks.

    Welcome to the club!

An exhaust is a good addition. A BOV adds 0 power and is a waste of $ as it is potentially harmful. Stay away from CAI or short ram intakes for the most part as well.

Use the search button and be sure to read the stickies.

    welcome bud!

definitely no cai or bov's... especially for a first mod.

some suspension parts are fairly cheap, especially if doing yourself, and can results are known.
short throw isnt bad idea, but not necessarily needed if not increasing power right now.

or you can rice it... you know, lights everywhere, decals that add 30 hp... to the wheels, stuff like that.

Cobb AP Stage 1. Don't worry about it voiding your warranty. Its undetectable by the dealership. Good amount of HP added. You go from 227 hp to 260-265 hp. Much better performance and very very easy to do. Cobb AP runs about $600 and you can add mods and go to Stage 2 (280-285 hp) when you are ready. Thats what I would do if I were you. I also have a 2005 WRX.

Yep - I have the OEM. Love it.

If you still have the stock 16" Potenza RE92s, get bigger wheels and good performance tires. That would be a great first mod.

forget about buying the parts thru the dealer. Get them thru someone else. The Cobb AP is a great upgrade and you will be happy with it.
