I just put mine in drive, the transmission takes care of the rest for me.

Do not put something like this thread on nastysock or even offtopic for that matter. The best way to learn stick is to have someone teach you, not read off the interraanet@!@@!!!!.

And the launching thing has been covered many times. Do some searching as to what feels right once you start learning how to drive one. Most say rev up to 4.5-5,000 rpm and slip the clutch out semi quickly. But it's really something one needs to feel out to get what's right for them/there car.

Learn how to drive it first, launching will come naturally.

I agree that you should learn how to drive stick first before you worry about launching. Here are threads that will help you.

step 1) Find a friend w/ a car that is manual.
step 2) Ask said friend to show you how to drive manual
step 3) Enjoy the rest of your life, and the fact that you can do something that the majority of the US population cant.

    Thanks for asking Myke!

Well it's been exactly one week since I purchased my WRX and I'm loving it. I'm still getting a handle on being able to read my car, and I haven't raced it yet , BUT I drive it to and from work everyday with no stalling and no accidents!! *knocks on wood*

I can't wait to master the technique so I can really open her up and reap in the benefits of why I purchased a manual in the first place!!!
