    Just sayin' Hi

    Hey all,
I'm new to the board and to subaru's, i'm hoping to pick up a WRX soon. I currently have a 1995 civic coupe. It's boosted right now with a small T3 turbo charger and some other little modifications. So i'm not new to the car modding scene. Hoping to learn how to hop up a WRX the right way. Umm...one quick question, i was looking at the accessport EMS, and i'm used to Hondata, or uberdata where you have to do the tuning, is this just a plug and play type deal? You just plug it into your ECU and pick out which map you wanna use? That seems to be a pretty good deal for what it's worth. Well just sayin' hi, hope to learn a lot.

Welcome Smuggs, and here's to you hopefully joining the subaru crowd soon. The Cobb EMS (or AP for Access Port) is a true plug and play unit, where you just download the software into your ECU and run from there. It has the flexibility of the Street Tuner option also, that allows you to tune the car or have it tuned at a Pro Tuner equipped shop if you later decide to mod the car past the capabilities of the AP Stage 1, 2, or 2.5 (for WRX). Much easier to use than Hondata, but not as flexible unless you opt for the Street Tuner later. Good luck!

thanks a lot for the replys guys. Alright, i'm glad that it's a plug and play type deal because that would save a lot of time on the dyno and cash to pay a professional tuner. I'm hoping i will be joining the club real soon, but until then i'd like to learn as much as possible.

Welcome, I have a lot of friends w/ Hondata for the RSX. The AP is alot easier, no need to mail your ECU out, just plug and install. It does require you to stay along a certain mod path (tho it doesnt regulate what companies you use). For the money its great.
