Newbie w/ 04 WRX

Hello all, my name is Mike and I'm from Atlanta, GA. I'm having an 04 silver wrx shipped to me and should be receiving it this week. I do have one super newbie question though. They offer a 6 year 60,000 mile warranty for about $1500 where I am buying it. Normally I am not one to get an exteneded warranty, this being my first turbo charged car and reading some past reviews on transmission problems, curious of anyones thoughts on purchasing this. Once again it's great to be a part of a very close community from what I am told. L8r.

Welcome! I got the extended warranty on my ride too. It is a bit of money, but the piece of mind is nice. I guess it depends on you though, are you going to mod it, or leave it stock. If you are going to mod, how far are you going to go? If you are going to change out turbo, intercooler and other high end stuff, might as well just skip the extended warranty, unless after you do all that work and something breaks, you really want to take it all off, return it to stock, and then bring it into the dealer to be fixed. Congrats on the car, I am sure that you will enjoy it! Post pics when you can, and update mods often!

Extended warranties are not usually worth the money. The transmission issues with these cars has to do with high power applications, and launching too much or aggressively, and not with average, everyday driving! A great tranny if you treat it well. Now, I am sure you will want to mod this car some, it is fun, and not too difficult, so save your money for that! You can do minor mods to make it faster and more fun without hurting your tranny, that Subaru will void the warranty for anyway, so why bother! HA!

I'd pass on the extended warranty. They are usually not worth it on cars with good reliability records (like the WRX).

This is going to be my daily driver, so my first upgrades are definately rims and bov. So if I mostly make minor mods I guess I will be alright. Funny thing is, I had a supercharged s2k and it did not feel much faster than a wrx. My friend just got a 04 sti and that would of blown it out of the water. Heers to a stock subaru!

welcome to the club....i did get the extended warranty w/ my 04 wrx and im at stage 2 right now...but thats as far as i plan on going...stage 2.5 is tempting but it is not worth it right now
