New here and have some questions

Hello to All from Statesville, North Carolina.

Alright...well here in about a month or month and a half...I'm going to be trading in my 2000 Integra for a 2002 WRX. I've heard things about wrx transmissions being kind of "iffy". Is this true for all wrx's? subarus? I've test driven a 2002 WRX and I love it a lot. I can't wait until I get one of my own. Also...what is the true HP of a 2002 WRX? I've seen it range anywhere from 227-235 on websites...so I didn't know if anybody knew if they were under rated or if that's pretty accurate.

Are you looking at new/used. . wrx's? What kind of price range?

I'm going with used...I know that I can get a 2002 WRX for what I can afford...both financing and insurance. What about the transmissions? Anybody have any problems with the clutch or gears?

02's had the clutch shudder issues and thinner gears than the late 03's 04 & 05's.

So the gears would be more likely to strip on the '02's?

Its really hard to say, some people beat their cars and never have issues.

First base dyno was 194whp and yes weak tranny I'm making 278whp and I'm on my third tranny the first one was my fault then the second fail was the shop installing my ring and pinion wrong. Just don't beat on it, it is an upgrade from the integra but it can't be driven like a Honda. Welcome to the forum and u will enjoy ur wrx
