Yes, the USDM STi has had the 2.5L engine since it arrived in 2004. The WRX had the 2.0L from 2002-2005. In 2006 the WRX is going to have a 2.5L as well.

Pre-2002, Subaru was more of a cult car. Once the WRX came to the States they are everywhere, especially in the Northeast US where we gets lots of snow.

We only get the 2.0 models here . . . but most tuners have the 2.5 litre converisons
sitting in boxes waiting for us to break our cars . . . break it and make it faster i say

in Johannesburg South Afirca we only get 91 RON unleaded Fuel so our cars go into safety mode a lot !!!!!
we add additives and racing fuel to bring up teh octane rating so our cars can
    go propperly .

i am de-catting and running 102.7RON racing fuel (when i can get ) - - and 95 RON Leaded Fuel - for normal driving . . the lead only damages a sensor that u replace every few months

    Hi Don

Welcome! Ja, I remember about all the fuel problems with the Scoobs back on the highveld, I am a South African from Pretoria living in America now.

I don't own a WRX (just graduated from college and still poor) but I am a big fan beginning in the mid nineties when we got them in SA.

My friend's dad had a silver GT wagon and was part of the Subaru club in Jo'burg, I went with him and my friend to quite a few meets and really enjoyed them (drag racing and rallycross type thing next to the N1).

    Cheers

    Craig
