well if so then here are some noob questions that need very simple and easy respnonses.
1. Horsepower helps top end speed?
2. Tourque helps 0-60 speed?
3. I dont have to buy a stage1 then 2, i can just start off buying stage 2?
4. I can mix parts to make stages. ( Cobb AP and someone elses catback) ?
4 easy questions for now. easy to understand answers are greatly appreicated. thx![]()

I don't know the answers to your first two questions but yes you can go straight to stage 2. And you can mix parts for stage 2. I have my AP at stage 2 with helix up/down pipes and the stock catback.

Change those questions into statements and they are exactly right.

im beggining to learn alot very quickly.
a few more easy questions
1. What be better to use, a COBB Turbo-Back Exhaust System or STP Performance Exhaust System?
2. When stages say they will increase hp to say 300 hp, to figure out what the actual wheel hp is, for AWD, do you jst calcualate a 20% loss?
Sorry to say but the loss is generally more towards 25% - 30%.![]()

The figures used have been anywhere from 17% to 25%.Originally Posted by Icysheet
From personal experience, (at least a dozen dyno sessions with associated track runs) 20-21% is a very good number. No way do we loose 25-30% in our drivetrain. 30% loss to 300 crank HP would mean a 210 dyno. Not going to happen unless it reads extremely low. Average is around 240 HP stock which equates to 20% loss. The numbers we get in the 1/4 wouldn't be achievable if we lost more than that. (figures above are for the STi)

Personal preference. There are a LOT of other turboback systems out there. People base their decisions on exhaust note, price, etc. Performance wise, the differences will be negligible.Originally Posted by NewCar20

a COBB Turbo-Back Exhaust System and STP Performance Exhaust System perform the same. they will both produce the same hp??? but they r different priced and sound different???
anyone like one or the other better??
1. i think displacement, HP, and aerodynamics help top speed..Originally Posted by NewCar20
2. torque is the ability to turn the cars wheels from a stop. so the more you have the easier it is for the wheels to move the car.
3. yes.
4. yes. i have cobb AP, STi Up, TurboXS DP, MP, IntPipe, and stock muffler.

Although everything above is correct, I believe the original question was in regards to HP vs TQ. Certainly, aerodynamics play a large part in top end, but conversely, you can make a riding mower as smooth as a teardrop and it still isn't going to go any faster. Add more HP though, and top end will increase as long as you have the gearing. As for torque, honda is a good (or bad depending on your perspective) example of a line that can put out oodles of HP per liter yet with miniscule amounts of torque..thus the saying "VTEC baby", since they are so slow out of the hole due to their lack of torque, but fairly decent liter for liter with other cars on top end.Originally Posted by D0WNxSH1FT

So you see you are already increasing the amount of torque produced by the engine.

im begging to learn that AP, down pipe, uppipe and other similar things are mainly to increase hp (tourqe also increases). but what modds are better to increase torque??
