Post traded in the rx8 for the sti

Just got the sti over the rx8 I have had for almost a year. I took a bit of a loss in money, but after driving the STI it was well worth it. Lots of great info on these forums and I'm pretty good with the search button.

First thing I'm adding is a nav, and maybe eventually some performace upgrades.

welcome to teh club..... the RX8 lacks power like no other. the search function and the stickies will help you along your modding path.

hi, i did the same thing! i went from my mazda RX8 to an 05 WRX premium package. i am not looking back and i feel great. i got ripped on my lease and i hated it. now i have a car that responds well to mods and can be a beast if done right. my wife chose the RX8 and made me get it as an automatic. i almost bought an STI but i was a couple thousand out of my budget. oh well, its all good!

    have fun with the STi!

    Congrats

    Hi There:

I test drove the RX-8 two times and I can't help but to awe everytime I see one. I currently own a '05 STI (it's been close to 1 year) and is the best thing that has happened to me however, I still can't hold myself from glancing and looking back at the RX-8s when they pass by me. Choices....Choices. There are so many and so little money! Anyway, congratulations and hope you enjoy the ride!

Thanks all for the nice welcome, the rx8 is a pretty car thats for sure but I need me some power!

The car is awesome now that I have just broken her in. Putting in my nav this weekend, should be a fun project.

do not worry, as you can spend a little over a grand and be keeping up with a stock STi. Spend a little more than 2 grand and you can smoke them.

I can't wait to get an STi some day. Congrats on your purchase!!!

I have a regular WRX that is a stage 2 & I remember when a guy pulled up next to me with a new RX8 with decals all over it, and a big o melon launcher out the back. He starts reving it up & looking at me.

Now I normally don't get into the street racing thing but I had just ul-leashed the beast witha Monster energy drink and was feeling rather frisky.

Long story short I put about 4-5 cars between us in the 1st. qtr. mile.

The funny thing was that I was on my way back from a camping trip & had my car loaded with gear and a bike on the roof.

    Congrats again on the STi

    used UTEC = $500
    used uppipe/downpipe/cat-back = $600
    used deadbolt zilla 18G = $700
    used injectors = $150
    fuel pump = $100

total = $2050 for about 330 WHP on pump.

so lets see. I got my 05 WRX brand new for $22,450.

    22,450 + 2,050 = $24,500 for 330 WHP

    stock STi = $ 33,000 for 230 WHP.

    - I saved $8,500 and I got 100 WHP more.

To be on the extra safe side, use a set of RA gears for another $1,000 , or PPG gears for like $1,500, which are pretty much unbreakable.

In conclusion, my WRX > your STi
