The new "official" photos do look better.... but definitely not "good".
It looks like a cross between the Mazda6 and Corolla S and nothing more.
Hopefully the STi will redeem the Subaru name somehow.

I am not going to get into a long-dragged out thing here, but the WRX is just plain and simply always playing catch up.
It plays catch up with handling, it plays catchup with braking, power, interior, etc.. etc...
We mod our cars because it is cheap and easy, but we also mod them because there are so many things that need to be improved upon from the factory. When I drive a stock wrx I am actually pretty dissapointed in what it offers (yes, even the all-mighty 06/07).
This wrx should perform better, but it is just NOW getting in the ball game with handling/braking/power that other cars priced similarly have had for a couple years now.
Will the 08' with all these upgrades finally be able to handle itself decently in a magazine comparison, or will it again get walked over by the MS3, GTi, Civic Si, etc...
It has been nearly 6 years since the bugeye hit the shores, and not much has changed.
It should make torque earlier, handle better, have a nicer interior, and be more modable.
Perhaps my opinion will change when I drive an 08' and it will blow me away. But for the most part, I already feel pretty underwhelmed even with the new upgrades.
And something tells me they are still going to use an easily breakable 5MT with POS RE92's![]()

what happened to the agressiveness???? that car looks bland and dull. i was going to save my money for an sti when i get out of college, but i may have to rethink that. as it was said hopefully they will redeem themselves with the sti. It will be a shame to see wrx's all over the place and become the next mustang gt.

The bottom line is that the potential is there to achieve near-STI levels of performance with minimal mods. Sweet!

I agree about the styling... I love my '03. It has subtle curves and angles along the body that adds tremendously to the look. Looking at the 08 is like looking at a flat wall... It's boring..
I don't like the foglight placement or the front grill... or the hoodscoop... or the headlights... or the back end... or the side.. actually... i don't like it at all. :-/ It reminds me too much of every other car out there
I looked at the new m5 today in a mag... and I was thinking to myself... why couldn't we have gotten one of their designers... I want aggressive! I will most definitely admit.. the 08 is a nice looking car.. but it is not the kind of car that die hard soobsters like ourselves want! It doesn't even look like a suby!
