I might agree with you a little on the looks, but it looks nothing like it rally roots? Look at how the rally cars are going these days. Focus for one, and many more. In my opinion this is the ways rally cars are looking now, hatches are the future for rallying.

    Road & Track

Road & Track has a article of what the new STI might be, they did a little photochop, and I'd have to say, I'd hit it! I think there speculation for 1/4 mile time is a little "optimistic." Is it just me or is the hoodscoop a little reminiscent of Ferrari 550?

I don't know why I'm so drawn to read everything about these new models, mabey because I love subaru's. But hear is my reaction. The evo may have the subaru by the nuts in terms of styling, but I rest asured the new sti will kill all evo infidels. Of course a hatch is going to look like ass but people better get used to that ugly ass because thats all there going to be able to see from 3 car lenghts behind. This ugly duckling will change the definition of "style" when it strikes fear into the hearts of men. Nothing is without reason with subaru there listening and be prepared.

that would be a plus 1, if it looks like the current WRX wagon w/ nice fender flares and some aero bits- definitely excited

Kinda makes you wonder if they are gonna have any aero styling options for the sedan...that would appeal to all of us nay-sayers

If the STI hatch looks good and performs even better than the current model, I will be tempted to postpone my Porsche purchase.

Wingless alas. Too bad it took a 50 ton truck to make it happen.

I think that 'chop just goes to show how important the fender flares are. It's the only thing I feel that is "missing" on my (#)_(#). However, Subaru has a solid history now going back many, many bodystyles of the STi basically having the same bodystyle as the 2.5RS except with a few extra aero bits and a bigger wing. I would be truly surprised if Subaru made such a huge addition to the STi variant vs. the regular WRX sedan as adding fender flares. But, imho that would be the exact thing they should do... (Of course, I think they should add them back on the WRX sedan, the WRX hatch, the 2.5RS hatch and the 2.5RS sedan too! )

Reading the article it states a wider track for the STi- if true- then flares could certainly be part of the package. My guess is it will be flared over the WRX

Is that real? If so, I like that grill 100% more than the previous one. I still can't wait to see the STi.
