6MT WRX. Through about 2,400 miles the lifetime mileage is showing 26.7 MPG. Mostly back country roads during the week and some highway on the weekend.

My hand calculations show about 24.5 MPG. Is anyone else seeing a difference between the gauge in the car and calculating based on gas put it compared to miles driven?

How long is your average commute?

There is a big difference if your commute is under 15 minutes.

Complete opposite, I've been driving like an old man through residential streets. So stop signs at every intersection, speed bumps, pedestrian crossings and stop lights for all of my 2 mile commute. My longer trips to the store are the only reason I'm not averaging 15mpg. Even so though, I've only filled up 3 times in two months which is fine with me.

Exactly. My commute is only 2 miles each way as well. I average about 17 mpg in my STi. The other day, I was able to get 27 mpg out of a 50 mile trip (45mph average) through some back roads. Since the WRX sees a good 15-20% improvement over the outgoing model, I'd expect 19-20mpg on short trips and 32-33mpg on long trips

On my sti average is 20-21 on 5 k. miles but, once I had 25. For this 25 I should use outback instead. This car doesn't like to go easy.

I currently have 1200 miles on my 6mt wrx and I'm averaging 23.3 mpg. Mostly city driving. My commute to work is about 10 mins so that mpg is actually very good.

So you all are going by the display or by doing real math and using a calculator?

I have a 2014, so not completely relevant, but I notice a difference as well. I usually get ~24.3 on each tank from the computer, but when I do hand calculations, it consistently is at least 1.5 mpg less.

Cannot measure precise as you never fill the tank the same, your car is never angled the same when you fill the tank.
Display is okay to get some picture. If you want to get more accurate than measure over few thousand miles.
Anyhow this car is not a gas saver. But it goes as we like.
