I'll be at the NAIAS in Detroit next month with the suppliers so I'll report what I find out. I've heard both...retaining EJ and getting new 'high-strung' version of the FA. I'll see if I can get some pictures too.

Edit: I don't think it's the same 2.5 liter so it wouldn't be the EJ. I suppose that was misleading. I believe if it's the 2.5 liter it'll be the blown version of the newer FB motor.

“A WRX with a CVT is like porn without sex,” read the suicide note of Rex Fanboi of Fap Rock, Massachusetts, whose lifeless body was found behind the wheel of his 2009 WRX modded with a Maganflow exhaust, a totally epic wing, and tires he once described as having “enough grip to rip the panties off your grandma’s ass”.

Most likely they will continue with the larger brakes too.

I would be shocked if Subaru doesn't provide significant differentiation to justify the price difference of an STi. However, there are many who look at peak HP numbers and act like everything else is practically insignificant.

There are "enthusiasts" and there are "drivers". The one thing I don't like about automatics is that I don't feel as if I have quite the same level of control as in a manual. I have no problems with people taking the CVT or automatic route, but for me control has so far beaten laziness in my vehicle choices. For 99.5% of what I do in a car it doesn't matter, but I am wary about the times when I want to be in full control of power and the weight transfer. My wife has a solution - change the way I drive LOL. It the same with VDC - it cut engine power to my old '08 WRX the first time I went to power out of someone's way (they lost control in a snowy intersection). They stopped just short of hitting me, but I never used VDC in the snow again after that.

This is why a DSG option would be better than CVT - the control feels more natural. The caveat is that I haven't driven the WRX CVT, but when every review I watch points towards the manual as being better then it's enough for me not to want one.

It has already been mention by Subaru that the STI WILL only have a 6 speed tranny. No CVT/Auto.

I have seen in it 3 inches from my face in real life. 3 times. Really tuff to like if your use to seeing other generations and seeing the concept was a downer after seeing the debut of the 15' WRX. Disappointing really.

Perhaps it kinda bugs to see alot of WRX's around. CVT option just made that feeling worse. I like knowing there isnt to many WRX's around and when I see one I find my empty stomach happy all of a sudden lol. perhaps because I know he/she is driving a stick. Kudos!

ID:	127066So I saw one the other day while Xmas shopping in foster city. The guy said he is test driving it to put on miles. I think he said this was one of 16 being driven. He was picking up someone to test drive it as well. Wish I could've test drove it. It looks ok but nothing spectacular. Waiting for the STI to be revealed. Click image for larger version.
