I watch my tack more than my speedo actually. Only thing I care about is that I'm doing 4-5 Rpm's in 3rd gear through playgrounds during recess.

Maybe the cars you drove. Tachos have been in cars and trucks for at least 25 years. Youre right im pretty young. Not an old man
If you're upset over someone elses opinions then the issue isn't with the person giving the opinion but rather yourself for taking it personal.

Why do you state all your opinions as facts (especially when you're wrong)? Many small cars (probably trucks too, my family never had one, though) throughout the 90's had no tachometers. The Toyota Tercel, Camry, and Corolla/Prizm/Paseo come to mind, as well as some versions of the Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, etc...

A 5 second google search is all you had to do. Oh, and the tachometer is believed to have been invented by Dietrich Uhlhorn in 1817, for your random fact of the day.

Any clue on how they'll differentiate, mechanically, between the WRX and STI? Seems like they gave the WRX a bit too much of a boost in the suspension department.

I didn't mean to suggest they weren't in any cars. But for the average family, non-performance, car in the 80s and 90s, they just weren't seen. Even when I was selling cars in the early 00s, the base models didn't have tachometers. You learn to listen to what your engine is doing and know where red line is by sound and vibration.

Wow. That makes my tacho-less 2005 Focus seem even more pathetic!

Good question. Only Subaru knows for sure at this point, but we'll probably see the rumors start flying soon enough. I'm confident the STI will retain DCCD, which has been one key differentiator in the past, along with more exotic suspension components, materials, and bracing. Beyond that, who knows?

    Don't forget MOARRRR POWWWWWAAA!!!!

In all seriousness though. I don't think there will be as big of a separation between the two as there has been in previous models. I would expect maybe 310hp 270tq, manual only trans, DCCD, some bigger sway bars, maybe stiffer springs and a lower stock ride height.

Outside of the mechanical stuff I really hope they give the STI some wider fender flares and larger wheels.

I'm fairly sure the STI will retain the 2.5 liter motor. That's a big difference mechanically I would say. I'll assume the STI will have a wider track at least.

    I LOL'd!!!

“A WRX with a CVT is like porn without sex,” read the suicide note of Rex Fanboi of Fap Rock, Massachusetts, whose lifeless body was found behind the wheel of his 2009 WRX modded with a Maganflow exhaust, a totally epic wing, and tires he once described as having “enough grip to rip the panties off your grandma’s ass”.

Retain the EJ? Wonder what the internal limitations on the FA are. I know 86 guys run crazy numbers on their stock blocks, though they eventually fail.

The FA handles power far better than the EJ does. It would be stupid for Subaru to retain a weaker engine in their flagship car.
