I did an initial internet inquiry with five locals, and I let each know they were in competition. I knew invoice on everything going in to it because Clint on IWSTi posted them back in February I believe. Anyway, none of the five had ever even heard of the sport package? Basically, CARR and Royal were pretty much even, I ultimately choose CARR because they allowed me to keep the OEM wheels, and my sales guy found humor in the fact that I knew more about the 15 than he did. FYI , the asshat over at Wentworth all but said I did not know what I was talking about regarding the sport package, until I gave him invoice and the order code for his computer system. He also said no local dealer would come of MSRP, my response, that's funny as I have two quotes for $1000 under invoice. Hope this helps, good luck with your process!

Huh, Carr was really slimy when I tried to get an Outback from them, but then, I wasn't buying new.

I've seen the reports that you have to shift to 3rd to get to 60 mph during 0-60 tests which slows the 0-60 times. I did the calculation and if you shift at redline (6700rpm) you should be at 63.2 MPH. Can anyone tell me where my math is wrong? The figures I used are below.
    Diff ratio: 4.11
    2nd gear ratio: 1.947
    Tire diameter: 25.3
    Redline: 6700 RPM

To hit 60 you pretty much have to red line in second. No shift needed technically.

Hello! gizmo introduced me to this thread. Just wanted to chime in.

Test drove the WRX a couple of times and yesterday finally put my deposit on a 6spd CWP limited with HK/nav (i believe it also comes with the STS and HL/auto-dimming mirror). Got the VON and VIN, it's arriving in two weeks.

Although i've driven manuals before, this is the first time i'll be driving one in nearly 20 years. It's also my first time owning a stick altogether. Excited, nervous and anxious all at the same time.

p.s. Is the ECU problem reported by a few, at least two by STI owners, a widespread issue?

It's hard to tell at this point. There have been a few issues with WRX owners as well but really knows the actual percentage.

Let's be realistic - all makes and models will have a percentage of new cars which experience faults in the first year of ownership. Don't look at a forum and think that because two STI owners have experienced some kind of failure that your WRX will as well as the odds are in your favour that it won't. You take a risk with buying a new car but you also have the warranty to ensure that any problem will be fixed.
