    On another note -

Speedometers. They must be analog style with a swinging needle and a dial. Same for a watch. Cars evolved from steam - it they achieve warp drive I'll reconsider.
What are you thoughts on "digital analog" gauges, where an LCD screen displays an analog gauge (ala Lexus LFA)?

Speaking of watches and analog gauges, I've always like the Lexus IS300 chronograph-looking cluster:

I never got to watch them but now that I'm using Netflix instead of cable I've been going through them one by one lately. I got up to the Hilux episodes last night (had seen that part before though).
Those Hilux episodes were incredible. At first I thought those scenes might have been doctored a bit, but Jeremy's reactions seemed to be genuine shock and surprise, so maybe they were real.

In the first, the center digital readout serves as a minor annoyance and distraction from the analog gauge. The digital stuff around the side is kind of cool looking but too hard to decipher.

    The second is beautiful.

Apparently, the LFA V10 can rev from idle to redline in 0.6sec. A conventional analog servo needle literally can't spin that fast, necessitating an LCD version instead. Pretty crazy.

Ah, I didn't get it the first time. So it isn't an analog needle. They could make one that works surely though.
