It's taken with a super-wide angle lens, and according the the post, this was the only shot. Completely agree though, if I thought I spotted a mule I'd take a lot more pics.

Everyone's doing it too, it drives me nuts. Jaguar XKR-s GT, Mclaren MP4-12c (with a GT3 model too), etc.

Nailed it. It's a really crappy replica of a BMW X5.

Now I'm reviewing old mule pics on Google. Does anybody else hate the smaller window in front of the mirrors? Makes it look like a Honda Fit.

All the new models have that quarter glass. So its safe to assume the new model will have it too. That is where they used to mount the tweeter & mirror. For some reason only known to them, they decided the mirror was going to stick out like a wart on the side of the door. This meant that space could be used probably to eliminate any A-pillar blind spots.

Didn't realize that, thanks for the info. The a-pillar looks about the same size to me, but I'll have to go check it out.

At least from that angle the A pillar looks smaller,i.e.,reduced width. Also they have changed the shape.

2013 Impreza on which above model is based.

Those pics are a much better comparison, and you're right, there is a bit more visibility there.

I recall reading in Road and Track that mounting the mirror on the door rather than the window provides better aerodynamics. I can't seem to track down the article that mentioned that though.

However, the Prius has the mirrors mounted to the door and suffice it to say, if it's aerodynamic and feasible for a passenger car the Prius will have it.

link because I'm not about to post a picture of that thing in here.

As literally EVERYONE on ClubWRX knows, I have a total stiffy over the new FA20 motor. After seeing the motor's potential in the FRS/BRZ with a sky-high 12.5:1 CR, you bet that rugged little powerplant will be able to produce some serious power once the compression is dropped. Phil at Element Tuning even told me it was Subaru's "best motor to date."

Yes, the block is an open deck design, but HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THOSE CYLINDER WALLS!

Also, it's about time that Subaru went to a more conventional square (86mm bore 86mm stroke) motor.
2015 CWP WRX STi ... But how did I get roped back into an EJ motor?!

Yeah, I got some of this from Crawford's commentary, when he was hopping up that BRZ in the video. It's annoying, really..if the report was that "you shouldn't add anything to this motor, it's delicate", then I would have no temptation at all to put an Innovate twin screw on it, or whatever.
