    It is a VAG product.

The motor is correctly placed in the chassis, making it inherently superior conceptually to the BRZ.

However there has not to my knowledge been an announcement of a fixed head, just a cabrio, making it less interesting to me.

Also, VAGs statements regarding selling 50,000 units annually in this economy reflect an urgent need for better drug control in Germany. Abuse must be absolutely rampant.

Have to agree with you there. Looking for something to eventually replace my MR2 Spyder, and this could be it. I love mid-engine roadsters! (especially German ones)

    I had a 914, and two MR2s.

If Toyota cannot sell a mid engined roadster I doubt VAG can. I certainly doubt they can make it better. The Porsche version would have been questionable in light of the Boxster, and the Audi R4 would have been brilliant but Audi already made it, almost, decades ago as the Group S. The TT would clash there too (the Group S looked a lot like the TT but the motor was correct instead).

That leaves VW, Skoda, and SEAT. I'd vote for SEAT but will believe the car when I see it - and am unlikely to buy it even if I do see it I think.

I'd love to see what Porsche could do with it. The base Boxster 981 now MSRP's at $50K, with reality being $60K+ at my local dealer. There might be room for them to put their touch to the car and sell it in the $35-40K range.

The 914 did not go all that well for them in terms of image in key markets, and even the 924 had some sort of "VAG" stigma. OTOH money is money and they want to sell cars or know-how.

I just can't figure out how this and the TT would coexist though.

Ditto. I wonder what the annual TT sales are. And then they think there'll be 50k other people who will say "you know, I always kinda liked that TT, but if only it were mid-engine..."

I have to say, I work for a VW dealer in NH and we have been so ridiculously busy it isn't even funny, and we are getting all manner of trades in for them too.
    today I cleaned and prepped a 05 mini cooper s JCW, 06 GMC sierra 3500 duramax, a 04 matrix.
and there is an H3 truck, nissan altima, kia optima, f150 raptor, 3 pruis(plural LOL), and 4 subarus waiting to go through the shop and thats from what I can recall off the top of my head.

we are easily selling 50+ cars a month and other dealers in nh are selling 100+

Maybe they thought it through and it's stillborn. I really want to like VAG again, it's a shame. I'm a fan of SEAT and Skoda but the current VW lineup isn't for me, and I don't have the patience for an Audi.
