My current thinking is that, about a year down the road, I may get rid of the Rayngar, keep the wagon as my DD/family vehicle, and get a used Cayman S or 911, assuming I find one that drives the way I want. The BRZ could become a possible contender in that slot..
Certainly am Sir we'll chat it up I'm sure. I'll actually be able to drive one this coming weekend at the oc awd meet. As mentioned, my buddy Rob in Anapolis runs outcast fabrication. He's picked up a FRS as a driver until he goes all out nuts on it mid next month for a car to bring to SEMA. He's planning ls3+trans n porsche diff swap, big brakes/wheels/tires, body mods.. the whole deal. Before he does all that though, he's promised me some seat time. I fully plan to give the car a good close inspection because I'd really like to snap one of these up for the "pay for" car after my wrx is paid off. So far he's told me that it handles easily as well as any Porsche he's owned or driven (sub 100K price point) and that its manors are very forgiving when pushed hard (stability turned off).. with stability control turned on he mentioned that its very very hard to get the car unsettled at all. Even in the wet.

I'm thinking I'll likely go for the FRS over the BRZ though, biggest reasoning is cost.. but secondly I'm starting to like the FRS bodywork quite a bit more. Headlights can be swapped and I dont mind manual heating controls. So for the nearly $5k cost difference between the FRS and the limited BRZ.. I'll take the FRS. Other than very slight changes to dampening.. its the same car.

Hopefully people dont start cracking them up in the next couple years.. would suck for the insurance industry to take this car off my "must have" list.

It IS a dog (I'd rather have the pony car), but most of the more vocal people on here don't care. They'd like a Chevette as long as it turned good. The slowest granny Mustang they make beat the pants off the BRZ like it was standing still on a a real race track with lots of turns in it in that video posted on here by the same driver (1.5 seconds faster and the guy liked the Mustang just fine save Ford's brakes) and they came away with, "See, the Mustang SUCKS". At $30k for the as-equipped BRZ, they SHOULD have compared it to the Mustang GT, but then they'd have hard time keeping a straight face telling people how 'great' it handles while the Mustang soundly trounces it by 3-4 seconds at the same relative price point and if the race times don't supposedly matter, then WTF race in the first place?

If they had raced a Scion Tc against the BRZ, my money would have been on the the Scion for sure and who the heck raves about a Scion? At least the WRX has AWD as a good reason to choose a bit less power for Northern climates, etc. when compared to something like the Mustang GT. I don't live on a freaking mountain top so absolute perfect balance in a turn doesn't mean squat to me without power to back it up.

The fact that some Subaru dealer won't even let people test drive a $25k base car with 200HP tells me I'd be looking for another dealer. I wouldn't put up with that crap for one minute. It's not a Porsche, let alone a Ferrari and let me tell you the Porsche dealer around here wouldn't tell me I couldn't test drive a Boxster. He'd know I'd never buy it if I couldn't drive it first. As for the almighty Miata, I don't even fit in that tiny tiny car. Some of us are over 6 feet tall. It's not even an option for us.

You guys can have the BRZ. I won't be standing in line to get one. Don't worry; I'll try to remind myself how much fun I'm supposedly not having as I blaze past this thing in the future.

I actually have a 13' GT on order. It's a base, it only cost 29k. If you want a premium you just add 2,200. My math tells me, that equals 31,200. I've never sat in a BRZ, but if I compare the GT to the WRX, the GT blows the WRX out of the water.

You're not joking... The Chevette gave the fastest Fords a run for their money when both were competing directly, and I believe the Chevette came out on top in the championship one year -- was it '80? Time flies. So do Chevettes.

    bwahahaahaha @ doobis comment.

If you think it doesn't have enough power, you don't get why they made it... and that's okay. Go be Clarkson and powerslide yourself senseless - tires are free, right?

The links are useless. You're assuming you can get a BRZ for msrp or lower. Good luck. You can get a GT for invoice all day everyday. You remind me of the people that think you can get a 2013' gt500 for 55k. Dealers always mark up cars that are in limited production and high demand.

NADA is an industry standard. Useless....lol...okay. Either way the GT is more expensive even by your logic.
