Have you driven one for any extended period of time? Not all it's cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong, really nice cars (G35 and 350Z) and they do perform great... but I was bored of it after literally a month. I've never been bored in either of my STIs.

I'm not going to put too much stock in those numbers, and instead focus on all the praise for the chassis.
Well, what is the real number?

I hope they come out with an STi version of the BRZ. I might trade my car in for it or for a new STi in the near future.

I was hoping for better acceleration numbers given the price. I'd bet a 280hp BRZ would probably put a really big smile on my face, if the price is right but methinks that'd be pushing 30k+ if and when it gets released.

    7.3 seconds?

Someone here made fun of my 1993 Ford ProbeGT as a POS, but hell, it did 7.4 seconds.

A "real" sports car has to have RWD? How about a real sports car needs to go faster than a freaking mini-van?!

I'm sure once they get around to a turbo, this car will put out respectable numbers, but how much is it going to cost at that point? You could get a base WRX for what this thing looks like it will cost and you could build from that to get something much faster yet. I don't see why they put a 6-speed in it either. Like the STi, the extra gear is slowing the car down more than anything else. Sometimes more is less.

That's my point, it's all subjective. One driver might do 7.3, another might do 6.8...who knows. It's all magazine racing. The important thing, in my opinion, is how much fun it is as some of the other guys have said.

I think few car guys would argue with the fact that the Mazda Miata is a wonderful sports car. This is a guess, but I would be you that no stock Miata was ever faster than 6.5 seconds to 60 according to the magazines. Go drive one and tell me that car isn't a hoot regardless of it's "slow" acceleration.

And I think that the Miata is a better car to be comparing this one to than the WRX or STI. They are very very different types of cars.

Calvin.....I agree, this looks like a Miata competitor, probably a real good one, too.

Amaterasu....Regarding and STi version, not likely. If the WRX line continues (will the strong, persistent rumors hold true?). If so, then too much overlap would exist if both a BRZ/STi and a WRX/STi were sold out of the same stable. Frankly, I see the WRX and BRZ buyers being two separate entities. If indeed this is true, Subaru would be better off with two separate and different automobiles in the showroom.

My heart says, "its about the cars". My business mind tells me, "for Subaru it's about the $$ and selling more cars".

It's all so relative. A coworker just bought a Honda Fit, and raves about how quick it is. And by 1984 standards, she would have been right. Back then the Corvette was finally getting back into sub-7 second 0-60 numbers.

Let's face it; the BRZ is plenty fast enough to have fun in for 95% of the population. It's a formula that has worked for the Miata for many years. We're a bunch of forced-induction snobs, accustomed to something different.

I'll admit; if they even put the WRX engine in it, and somehow kept it under $30K, I'd get all Viagra-ized.

Hit the nail on the head...most people don't know what to do with more than 200hp anyway. It's not like everyone stomps on the gas from a dig at every light going WOT anyway. Virtually everyday someone takes off quicker than me from the line in their 4cyl Camry or Accord. Until I hit boost, I have just an average 2.5L 4cyl like anyone else...I have the power when I want to get on it, but I don't have to in order to enjoy my car.

I bet 200hp is plenty for a car that light...at least as an introductory model. Will I want to see some F/I? **** yeah!!! But I'm just saying, let's see what it does...with first hand accounts first, and tell the paper racing to piss off. You don't know until you try it.

*Warning Blasphemy Ahead* - I hope it remains NA and under 250hp. I don't know why, I don't have any logical reasoning for it other than after seeing this car it just sort of felt right. I love this car for what it is and I love the STI concept even better. The large spoiler, BBS wheels, Brembos, CF roof etc etc all just make the car simply perfect. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will own this car. I don't know when but I will own one
