It's looking better every time I read about it... now bring back the bulging fenders!

I prefer the stealth look.
Actually, I wish I could get an 09 WRX with the hood scoop and rear spoiler delete. Don't know where the intercooler would go if that happened.

I'm planning my next car purchase within the next 6 months...i HAD pretty much ruled out a WRX, and narrowed it down to a MS3 or CSRT4.

But reading about what the 09 WRX is going to be, it looks like im going to have to rethink everything

The hood scoop is the other thing that defines a WRX (1st being the fenders!). No doubt the aftermarket already has a bunch of FMICs you can buy. Seibion or SOM can hook you up with a hood. You can take your spoiler and sell it then get the body pannel or covers (however its done) from a standard impreza.

Haha..I actually like most of the SRT vehicles out there...i wasn't a fan of the CSRT at first but it grew on me.

That being said...Comparing it to the 09 WRX the CSRT just isn't cost effective...why pay 24k for FWD 285hp when you could get 265hp and AWD for only 1k more?

highly doubtful, as the designs of the two bodies are COMPLETELY different.

FYI...didn't see if it was posted, but the turbo is straight from the STi, as is the DP. They've simple detuned it. Good news for WRX buyers, not so good for STi. STi still retains the edge in diffs, suspension (with all the aluminum bits), brakes, wider track, and of course, the unholy 6 speed.

Stock WRX are going to see 310 hp 340 ft/lbs easy though. The LGT trans will hold up, but the clutch most certainly wont'.

not the exact same turbo, but close - the STi turbo is positioned differently vs the 09 (and 08 and LGT) WRX- it is rumored to utilize the same compressor housing however

Great info in this thread; thanks, guys.

This car is putting me in a different position. I've been all about saving my pennies, finding a buyer for my wagon, and finally getting my used 911, M3, or STI.

This car could be an affordable new alternative. If Subaru runs one of their "we'll give you this much minimum for a WRX trade-in" deals, I may have some thinking to do.
