Looks kind of generic. They could do worse though.

Looks like the Toyota version.

The Subaru derivative will probably look more "unique" as is their style.

Adding to the rumormill:
Carscoop is reporting that Toyota has finally confirmed what many have long suspected: The next Scion tC will be a variant of the upcoming Subaru-Toyota rear-wheel-drive coupe project. At a press conference back in April, Toyota CEO Katsuaki Watanabe had confirmed that his company was jointly developing a pair of rear-wheel-drive sports cars with Subaru. Each brand would get its own version of the car, which would each be powered by one of Subaru's boxer engines.

It looks like that powerplant will be around 2.0L in size and put out around 200 horsepower. Based on an all-new RWD platform, the affordable coupe should show up Stateside by the end of 2010, or possibly early 2011. That new tC will probably be joined by a version of the iQ minicar in Scion dealerships as well, also according to Carscoop's Toyota insiders. A reborn, rebadged Celica and a Smart-fighter could be a compelling pair for Toyota's youth brand. As always, we'll keep you posted.

Rumormill: Next-gen Scion tC will be Subaru-co-developed RWD coupe - Autoblog

Wow, some people here are just really stuck up on AWD.

The 2 door RWD/boxer platform is the only thing that really has me interested. I can't figure out why they wouldn't make it hotter though, say 2009 WRX power levels at least if not STi power. Make it FI for sure. It has the short hood cab forward appearance though which pretty much guarantees the motor is still too far forward. What I really want is more along the lines of the old dodge razor concept, just a no frills rwd coupe. They may still be going somewhere with that one. Too bad it is an I4 platform, but with a SRT-4 motor it should take very well to mods. I also REALLY wish some one would make a high performance RWD version of a smart car. It may be a handful or two but I bet it would be a blast.

The fact that it's being sold as a Scion is at least proof that the price will probably be reasonable. The reason they aren't making this more powerful is because of cost, which I understand. Maybe it will have a TRD supercharger as an aftermarket add-on option? Anyway, the market needs a cheap rwd sporty car. At least Toyota may be putting some consideration into the fact that people like to drive cars that are fun to drive.

I guess I just see it as a game they all play. How much more does it really cost a manufacturer to put in a wrx motor and turbo versus a 2.5 NA? Now that they are both developed, it isn't $5k/car that is for sure. Subaru NA motors do not usually have good interactions with aftermarket FI. If they are going to try to make it affordable then look somewhere other than the motor, brakes, or suspension to cut costs. I'd be more than happy to share some of the interior with the front end as well.

If thats the case, I hope it will be more reliable than the current TRD FI for the scions right now.
