oops. i shoulda posted this info on this thread. oh well

Hyundai announced today the introduction of the new Hyundai V6 Lambda RS high-performance engine. The Hyundai V6 Lambda RS will equip at first the Genesis Coupe and will come with a choice between two transmissions: a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual.

The Hyundai V6 Lambda RS engine is based on the 2003 Lambda and features a number of modifications that take the power up to 310 PS at 6300rpm and 36.8kg/m of torque at 4700rpm.

To be able to fir the new Hyundai V6 Lambda RS engine under the hood of the Genesis Coupe the engineers had to trim 5 cm off the top of the standard unit. This led to a re-design of the intake and exhaust systems.
The exhaust manifold’s length and cross section were optimized for reduced resistance which maximizes high speed performance and yields a pleasingly sporty exhaust note. At the same time, the diameter of the intake port in the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) module was enlarged to improve engine breathing.

Attention was also paid to stiffening the aluminum engine block so it could endure higher stresses while a piston cooling jet was added under each cylinder to reduce thermal loading and prevent heat
damage. A further boost in performance was attained by adopting more aggressive camshaft profiles on the Continuously Variable Valve Timing system which governs both the intake and exhaust valves.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"piston cooling jet was added under each cylinder to reduce thermal loading"

Sounds like boost friendly. WOOT!:vtec:

The oil jets under the piston is a clear sign that this engine was designed with a S/C in mind. On an N/A engine that revs to no more than 7000rpm, the piston temps do not necesatate the oil sprayers. Oil sprayers are mainly used on boosted or high rpm engines to cool the underside of the piston with engine oil.
------------------------------------------------

3.8 v6 aftermarket supercharger revealed. Around 500hp(not sure about those numbers but close)

Red: Intake manilfold with intercooler. I am sure you can change the small resovoir into a icebox for 30+hp gain like what most people did with the Alpine supercharger(on the tiburon)

Blue: Rotorex supercharger.

I honestly like it, but why can't they just move the motor rear some? I'd be happy to drive from the back seat if necessary.

This should answer the motor reliabilty and how much you can abuse it.

It is no secret when dreaming of “Out of the box performance” most youngsters dream of owning Evos or STIs. It looks like the stars are going to align so that soon many will start dreaming of the more affordable Genesis Coupe. With the 2.0T, Spec.R, or whatever they are calling it these days, sharing the 4B11T powerhouse, several industry leaders are coming out of the woodwork itching to tap the new market. I mean if the Genesis Coupe is going to be $10K cheaper than any of its fellow 4 banger turbo buddies, that means us Hyundai fans are going to have an extra $10K to blow on aftermarket parts….. right?

Enter stage left….Buschur Racing. NewGenesisCoupe is the first to get the inside story on Buschur Racing’s plan for the little Hyundai 4B11T that could. If you have not heard of Buschur at this point in life, get out from the rock you are living under and visit their website for the full low down: Buschur Racing - Your source for Mitsubishi racing parts and accessories for Evo VIII and Evo IX Lancers as well as Mitsubishi Eclispe, focusing on turbo upgrades and exhaust systems.. The short and sweet, they are THEE name in business when it comes to boosted Mitsubishis. If you have a DSM or an Evo (even a Subaru or Scion), chances are you either already have a Buschur Racing part in your hoopty or are saving up for one, or two, or three.

Alright already I will get to the point if you haven’t quite put two and two together. 4B11T + Hyundai Genesis Coupe = Buschur Racing backing. They will be making a full line of products for the Coupe meaning the 30+ PSI dream is realistic. The 4B11T is said to be able to hold 29PSI. Strengthen that with some quality Buschur Racing parts, and well…… sorry Mazda but I am stealing your motto… Zoom Zoom.

Q&A Time:

Q: So what do you have planned for the Genesis Coupe?
A: We want to build a fun street car, run 10's, and also turn the boost down and do some track days.

Q: How will your new toy benefit the community?
A: We will conduct parts development, parts comparisons (just like we do now with the Evo items), and R&D to push the limits of the car.

Q: Emm push the limits. Sounds like you are pretty serious?
A: I don’t think the Hyundai community has seen a serious tuner shop come in and set the pace as we are planning to do. There are some name brands out there, but for the most part they do not conduct parts testing to inform the consumers of what they should actually buy. We are talking factual dyno for dyno proof. That is what we WILL do.

Q: Dyno proof. I like where this is going. What are you going to offer us?
A: We will be offering a full line up of parts such as intakes, exhausts, upper & lower IC pipes, head work, blocks, forged internals, turbo kits, FMIC kits, etc... just like we do with the DSM & Evo.

Q: Can you offer parts in stages so people can upgrade easily and affordably?
A: Of course. We will offer staged kits as we do on our Evo products and other car products so people can upgrade their cars in stages and save money instead of buying stuff all together.

Wow is all I have left to say. I can hardly wait for the Genesis Coupe to hit the market so a real name can be made for Hyundai in the tuner world. With the help of Buschur Racing that dream sure seems like an attainable reality. Thanks Buschur Racing!

I really like that rear. Reminds me of the DB9 a little bit...

I'm still pretty torn, I was hoping for it to clock in a lot lighter but if the chassis is halfway decent I could see this as being a next DD for me. Especially since the 4B11 has been a surprising motor in the evo camp. I personally thought it was going to be complete junk and its shocked me.

The chasis is excellent.

"the coupe's chassis has a 24 percent higher bending rigidity than the previous-generation BMW M3 coupe. Now that's impressive."

Genesis Coupe's chassis has been optimized for dynamic handling and more accurate steering feeling. Dual MacPherson struts in the front improve maneuverability by reducing the offset between the wheel center and the tie rods and increasing the caster angle.

For securing body rigidity while cornering, a front tower strut bar is optional. The rear rides on a five-link setup with reduced toe variation during acceleration, braking and cornering thus yielding precise maneuverability.

The Limited Slip Differential features a torque sensor for improved ride and handling under any road conditions. The rear differential transfer case sits atop a three-point mounting system (including a hydraulic bush mounting) for reduced noise and vibration

Mono tube-type shock absorbers have separate gas and oil chambers to enable stable damping force resulting in better ride and road holding performance. The use of crash durable adhesives in critical areas has increased dynamic torsional rigidity by 15 percent enabling better ride and handling, increased safety performance and reduced NVH. The Coupe is one of the quietest cars in its class thanks to special reinforcements and applications of various poly-urethane foam as well as sound interceptive materials that have helped eliminate both noise and vibration.

Safety
The use of high strength steel enhances safety and overall performance by achieving a stiffer, lighter body structure. When combined with the six-airbag system, active headrests, Genesis Coupe is expected to earn a five-star crash safety rating.

The Genesis Coupe promises to stop just as fast as it goes. Premium high performance disc brakes from Brembo will be available as part of an optional track–use performance package. For the Genesis Coupe´s front 18–inch wheels, Brembo engineers developed 13.4–inch x 1.1–inch rotors (340mm x 28mm) and four–pot fixed calipers (42mm+42mm) while the rear setup features 13.0–inch x 0.78–inch rotors (330mm x 20mm) gripped by four–pot fixed calipers (32mm+28mm).

At the highest level of international motorsports, Brembo´s signature fixed monobloc brake callipers and oversized rotors are recognized as delivering the ultimate in braking performance. The Italian brake manufacturer is acknowledged as the world leader in high performance braking systems and is a supplier to the world´s best–known formula racing teams as well as Italian and German manufacturers of supercars and sports cars.

Available safety equipment also includes Electronic Stability Program which uses the speed sensors on each wheel and the ability to brake individual wheels that are the basis of antilock brakes. ESP adds a control unit that monitors steering wheel angle and vehicle rotation around the vehicle's vertical axis. This unit uses the steering and rotation information to detect that the vehicle is about to travel in a direction different from the one indicated by the steering wheel position. Then ESP automatically brakes the appropriate wheel to help the driver maintain control.

Touches of convenience include USB/iPod connectors, auxilliary audio inputs, 5.6-inch information display unit (for audio controls, digital clock, climate control, inside/outside temperature) and steering wheel-mounted remote controls for the audio system. An eight-speaker Infinity sound system is optional.

Hyundai hopes to sell 40,000 Genesis Coupes annually, 5,000 in Korea and 35,000 in overseas markets. The Genesis Coupe's target customer is a middle-aged male (64 percent) looking for superior performance in terms of acceleration and handling. The competitive set includes the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Nissan Altima Coupe and Mustang.

Korean retail prices start at 23,200,000 Korean won for the base version and with full options, including the V-6 Lamda RS engine, the Coupe tops out at 33,920,000 Korean won.

I'm glad to see 05midblue found a new job.

I'll wait to see some more reviews of the vehicle.

Which cars have you been in ? The Suby is far from "great" but is way better than "most" HMC platforms.

Wow, I wrote that a year ago.
Way better, in what way, exactly? I'm sure we could do all sorts of apples to oranges comparisons. I owned a Hyundai Santa Fe until last year; it did heavy duty family hauling for a number of years without incident. (We had a burned out starter motor, where a local oil change place dumped oil all over it, but I can't fault Hyundai for that..)

The biggest downer on the Korean cars is still the resale value.
