To help the company dispel the generalization you are convinced is tue:

I was not a fan of the early Mitsu-motored cars but the company has come a very long way, has even made a venture into the WRC, and has products that are very competitive in several market segments.

I'm not saying I'd buy the coupe in the photo, but I wouldn't dismiss it just because of the nameplate (I'd not even dismiss a Mercedes because of the name plate, and they are now at the very bottom of reliability in at least one major market).

I've worked for Kia dealers for the last 8 years and i can tell you from experience, HMC has come a long way in that time. They continue to improve their IQS score and every year set sales records. New marketing aims them at more up scale autos. They're absolutely making a move in the right direction with the new Genesis platform. Think Honda/Acura or maybe Daimler/Benz, only done right.

It looks like it's gonna rock man. Especially if they can give it 300 HP, a limited-slip and keep the weight down around 3,000.

Would be nice if they offer a lsd. Hopefully they keep the weight down around 500 lbs under 3000. Just no reason for a 2wd 4cyl coupe to weigh 3k, though I know it probably will and then some.

It's kind of interesting looking. The way the feature line goes from convex to concave is kind of cool. I don't get why the window dips down so much it looks sort of weird. I'd like to see better pictures of it. It mwould be nice to have some more affordable performance coupes in the market. Right there nothing you can get under 30K really except a mustang or a 350z unless you want a convertible. Hyundai is definitely making some big steps forward very quickly.

Junk. It'll be more like 220 to the wheels do to incredible uber drivetrain loss. The cars are just so cheap and worthless on the inside, even worse than SRT-4's.

Aside from the looks I like it. It looks like a RWD accord.

no facts, just have 2 friends that though they had the baddest cars on this side of the mississipi, one "was" an 05 and the other 07. Both 2.7 v6's both 6 speed mushboxes. both absolutely worthless. The friend with the 04 had 25k on it and traded it in because of constant problems. There is no Hyundai dealer close so it was a 150 mile round trip to the dealer on a monthly basis to have random things fixed under warranty. The other friend still has his 07 still thinks its the baddest car around. Its just as bad too, he just keeps telling himself thats why it has a warranty, and I keep smiling while I ask him what hes going to do after the warranty. He runs mid 10's inconsistency in the 1/8th, not saying its not the driver, just seems very slow for a v-6 sports car. I just personally think they are VERY VERY overrated. Yea the 10/100k warranty is not a bad deal, but is it worth the hassle of your car in the shop on a monthly basis?

Just my opinion. Very biased. But those are my facts that I am going by.

Your "facts" are out of date. The Hyundai's and Kia's that I've been in recently have very nice interiors; fit and finish is only a bit off of the Toyota/Honda standards at this point.

I've owned two HMC products. Fine vehicles, both.

I don't have any Hyundai experience - but I do a lot of business travel which puts me in rental cars a lot... Every Kia I have driven was terrible. I once was upgraded and got the top-end Kia (had leather, v6, etc..) - I was surprised at how cheap and slow the car was.

For reference - I was the proud owner of a 2002 Ford Focus SE (ie, 120Hp) and anytime I rented a Kia, I couldn't wait to get back to my Focus.
