So, just in case anyone is wondering, if we left from Golden up through Golden Gate then over to Idaho Springs, it would be about 1 1/2hrs total drive, until we got to Beau Joes. That's my Guestimate, based on experience. I'll map it and post the link.

So, here is the 1st route we can take. From Golden, head up through Golden Gate Canyon to hwy 119. From there, we'll go down to Central City and jump on Central City parkway over to Idaho Springs.

    Or...

Same route to Central City/Blackhawk, but instead of taking Central City Parkway, we continue on 119, until we get to US-6 and take that to Idaho Springs.

The only difference is the 2nd route is a little more canyon scened road. Where Central City Parkway is more of a highway road.

Let me know what you guys think. If this doesn't work, maybe we can take Squaw Pass from Evergreen up to Echo Lake and down to Idaho Springs. It's a longer drive and more mountainous and super curvy.

I'm liking the sound of the more scenic (2nd) route. If we were to do this Sunday the 24th I could bring myself plus two more Subies. Anyone for or against tentatively planning for the 24th?

Yeah, I can do the 24th. I don't know any others that would be interested right now, but I can ask around.

I could do the 24th tentatively and I'll have my clearbra and opticoat on by then too. I can bring the gal pal and her subie too but she'll probably just ride with me if she comes.

Sounds good. Will do. What time should we meet up in Golden? The 7-11 just off of hwy 93 is perfect and just down the street from Golden Gate Canyon rd.

I think we should plan for around noon, that way we can cruise up for lunch and be done in time to beat the evening I70 rush of skiers coming home. You are talking about the 7/11 in the shopping center with the Starbucks, right?

We could also end the drive at that 7-11 spot and go to Cannonball Creek Brewing Co. Great beer there.

Honestly I don't know if there's a Starbucks there or not. It's right at the corner of hwy93 and Washington ave.

Okay, I went ahead and made a thread specifically for the purpose of this cruise. You can find it in the mountain states forum.
