Here's the test info. It does say visual inspection required.

Technically after 80,000 miles you're allowed to have an aftermarket catalytic converter. BUT... you're supposed to have the same amount of cats as came stock... Which is 3 for you.

I would guess 99% of technicians won't fail you if you have a cat in place and you pass with flying colors.

BUT.. there's always the chance of some d!ck head actually knowing about the 3 catalytic converters, and failing you.

to get 3 cats or even 2 cats, i would have to get something like perrin right? With a top and bottom downpipe cats. Does any other company make them like that? Is it even worth it at that point, or should i just get a downpipe with 1 cat?

that's up to you buddy... most people that have a good tune will pass via one of those rapid screen's anyways and won't even have to go in for their emissions...

    Hey all,
Greg here. I'm in Westy, just got a 10 WRX. I'm trying to relearn this Roo turbo stuff coming from diesel trucks....

So far I have the SPT cat back - had it put on by dealer before I picked up the car. Only other mods for now will be a K&N filter. I just can't wrap my noggin around how much better designed these things are compared to a diesel system. I got all ready to put on a CAI and figured it would need a new intake manifold, down pipe, up pipe and header to get it to do anything.... I've been reading tech stuff on here and NASIOC for two days now, just a crazy learning curve.

If you see me post some stupid question somewhere, just remember turbo diesels are different to an extent and I'm probably lost again.
