Thanks im glad to be here!! I am doing the SCCA actually and im at least going to a race at Big Sky High school this weekend. Im not going to race thow because i think i have a bad cv joint and i dont want to ruin it.

Can you tell me exactly how i could tell from sounds if it is for sure broke?

first inspect the boots for tears/cracks- look for grease leaking

noise wise - usually it's clicking or popping when turning

there is a guy from the Missoula chapter that runs a Subaru repair shop- I'm sorry I can't remember his name (pretty active member)- might be a good place to go (vs the dealer). He runs a VERY plain jane old model Legacy that happens to have I believe a full STi drivetrain transplant - if you see someone matching that description (or maybe ask around if you don't) might worth him having a look see.

^ welcome aboard- make sure you take in an event in Billings- they have two that will be out at the drag strip (Acton)- it's a nice venue to run

Billings is having a tough time coming up w/ suitable lots (we used to run in the upper Metra lots which was great) unfortunately

There are only a handful of Montanans on here. Although, Montana is listed under the Northwest regional forum. You may get a few more responses there. A decent amount of Subarus met up last year for a Beartooth Highway run. Perhaps they will put something together again this year.

Ok ill have to email you when we come through. Are you going to the wccs in Astoria, OR this year? I think its Aug 14-16th. We are for sure going. When it get closer to the time ill prolly come on here and ask if anyone in MT is going!
