NY - Watkins Glen opening day

Tomorrow April 29th is opening day at Watkins Glen International. $20 buys you 3 paced laps around the track. Now they say you're not supposed to go above 55MPH, but last year I clearly remember easily hitting 85 a few times. Anyone can bring their cars on the track. It's going to be a great time & I think the weather is even going to hold up. Anyone else going? I'll be heading down from the Palmyra, NY with some of my friends around 11am. Hope to see some other Subies down there.

I didn't see very many Subarus down there. Maybe 5 or 6 all day. Here's my 2 pics. Another great year to run. The tires were squealing around every corner. I need to get on that track again!

DO they ever have real track days there? Like ones where the top speed is definitely bigger (100+). I know the Porsche club does something down there, but its quite expensive to join as I recall. If anyone else wanted to get a Subbie meet together, I'd be interested for sure.

I know they do paced laps at noon during the week for a small fee. But it's just like opening day,.. paced. They say to keep it under 55, but you can easily get up to 70-80. I'm not too sure about open all out racing with street cars. I'm sure they enforce roll cages & helmets for those events. I'll have too look into it.

search for SCDA sports car driver assoc., owned n run by a guy I have worked with... they do track days at the Glen, as well as NHIS and Lime Rock...

and NO.. on "track days" cages don't apply.. helmets and right seating by "instructors" till they sign u off to run in a more advanced group does imply tho.. like pretty much any other track day organization.. AND please.. don't confuse track days with wheel to wheel green flag racing .. thank u
