What the hell am I doing wrong?!

Even with a good launch I'm still getting low 14's. I'm guessing it's my shifting... Maybe it's where I shift, or I am shifting to slow?? Maybe it's the track? (but Mikie13 ran a 13.1 in his '07 STi so it has to be pretty accurate) All critism welcomed!

I'd say work on your launching. You are in the 2.+ second range and a good place to be is around 1.8X. What are your launching methods?

    What is the elevation?

    For my 60' - I hit 1.9 flat a few times last season and a 1.92 on my last run listed here. 1.8x's are possible with a stock '06 WRX? Chiketkd hit a 13.96 with a 2.06 60' and a 13.74 with a 1.94 60'... http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showthread.php?t=136303

I've just been using his thread as a guide for a stock '06 WRX, granted he got a great time. I'm thinking maybe it's my 1-2 shift??

Launching I usually rev up between 4500 & 5500 rpms and let the clutch bite on the upswing of the tach. Any other suggestions?

The track is at sea level.

No mods, no stereo equipment, no aftermarket wheels - I'm bone stock.

I weigh 190 lbs. I had *maybe* ~10 lbs. of crap in my trunk total (a couple sweatshirts, maybe 2 textbooks and about 6-7 Red Bulls which are only 8.8 oz. a piece).

Jesus, isn't that like a record or something? I'll keep trying. I'm just wondering how Chiketkd did it with the 1.94 and 2.0 60's...

I'm guessing the 60' doesn't include the 1-2 shift...I could be wrong? I'm thinking it's gotta be my 1-2 shift...

wow that sounds alittle fishy, 1.6 is like sti not wrx. my stock 60's are 1.9's in my 03 wrx, and I concider myself a pretty decent driver.

At least you are consistant. I'd say it's a combination of launch and shifting. Basically...you just need some more runs under your belt.

FYI...I saw a stock 02 WRX pull a 1.6 60 footer with a NASTY slip-clutch launch. He replaced the clutch the following week. It was glazed as hhell.

Well I just got back from the track and hit a 13.8 stage 2 but on crappy Cali 91 octane. I hit a 1.869 60 ft.

    2006 TR Stage 2 Crappy Cali 91 octane 13.825@98

    OP:

There were stock wrx's there in the same range as you, and after I overheated my clutch on my second run, I ran a 14.1. So I wouldn't worry. In fact there was a bone stock bugeye that turned a 14.9 followed up by a 15.0.
