As for what are the ESP and SM WRXs running? Hmm, if there were any national examples, I could tell you. Thus far, the only recent example I can think of would be Phil Bedard's effort in SM. And last I heard, he was moving all the components to an L, for the weight-savings of that chassis. I don't remember what size wheels Phil was using, but I bet Jay (thechickencow) can tell us if/when he sees this thread.

Phil's car runs 17x10" with 285's I think. Its now a 98RS with all the WRX/STi/??? drivetrain in it and will end up below minimum weight whenever its done.

Your no longer limited to 8"- a lightweight 8.5 or even 9" would be nice No longer limited to 245 as well Sizing is somewhat limited in both the A6 and 710, the Victoracer comes in a 255/40/17 which would be a pretty nice size

But I can imagine that it would be hard to find a 17x9 Wheels with 110-5 bolt pattern AND the right offset to get the 255 tires to no rub...

What would be your suggestions on a wheel to fit the bill without going custom?

17x9's are pretty hard to find- a fair # of 8.5" rims available in 5x100 though

On a sedan w/ the fenders rolled I would think 255's would be fine.

SP is a pretty competitive class (aren't they all ) a good wide R compound is going to be a must.

I changed the direction a tad... since they got rid of the boost restriction on ESP I am going there... thus I can use a 9" wide wheel....

You could still run 17x9 in STU, too, with stock boost.

Why I posted the 9" wheel comment. Yes, you need a higher spring rate to keep the fenders of the tires. But they do fit 275's very nicely. But I am in the process of building/running an STX car. Mine has been put on the back burner for now.

What spring rates are you running? I am thinking about somewhere in the 500 -600lbs range.

Found some pretty sweet deals, need help considering the tradeoffs(will be running 235-stones or azenis):

17x7.5 dirt cheap Volk te37 15.5lbs $587set

I think the 235's will fit fine on 7.5, will the fit perfectly square? is the 1.5lbs worth the .5" in wheel? I'm thinking no, it might be a slightly narrow rim, but for the price and the weight, how can i beat em?

That's the order i think i'd buy them in. My budget prefers it, if i go with enkeis, i'll be springless, shockless, swayless or some combo thereof for 6 mos i'd prefer not to be.
