well, yeah this was a fail thread, as are all my first 10 posts. but i love drift, and gymkhana, but rally is what got me started in autosports.

gymkhana is really flashy the way ken block does it, and it just burns tires, but i love the cars.

I'm totally into drifting(cant tho), currently trying to sell my car and buy a FC or 240sx. If I could afford a sti i would go for it, but thats not happening. Drifting is an art form!

wanna get there fast? Keep her ass in line and drive smart. Drifting, while it might be an art form isn't functional driving (as mentioned already by many) .. fun to watch, sure.. hell on equipment... yep... but drift as a racing form? hell no.

My grandmother can driver her 120 hp Nissan Sentra faster around the track than Ken Block can drift it in his 600 hp Fiesta

Ken Block is good, but hes not a god. for sure. hes good at his gymkhana but not really the best in rally

i take it that not too many guys here take kindly to drift, but i can respect that, i understand why my dad dosnt see anything in it.

so in an attempt to un fail-ify this thread, lets talk about rally. whos your favorite driver, if you could choose. favorite team?

the point of drifting is to keep your car under control while losing grip, its not really who can around a track faster but who can bring the crowd to their feet. i guess its a preference thing.

Mr. Block uses a sequential gear box in his rally car, and has endless money to replace the gear box (and tires) when shooting the gymkhana videos.

The way stock Subaru's are setup is to keep traction at all times.

BTW this will happen if you try this in an Impreza (or any AWD vehicle for that matter). Drift relies on a difference between front and rear wheelspin, and this puts a lot of pressure on the center diff which can lead to failure. Furthermore, since the WRX viscous diff locks at only 4 Kg of force, you're not going to get much drift before your car regains traction.

thanks for that, i'm from washington too!

but i dont have a car yet, but if i were to get an impreza i wouldnt be one to drift it, i dont have enough money to upkeep the tires, etc. that drifting ruins. i like it, but i wouldnt do it.

If you drift an Impreza, the tires are the least expensive component you will need to replace. Imagine rebuilding the center diff integrated into the transmission casing ~ $2000
