I just can't believe that guy dumped a .21 on Whiteley in the semi's. I really thought Whileley was going to take that one. But when the nitro cars fall upon a tune-up, the blown cars are in another league.

The points races in the NHRA's Countdown to the Championship squeezed tighter once the dust settled over Sunday's O'Reilly Super Start Batteries Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex.
Sunday's winners--Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel, Matt Hagan in Funny Car and Greg Anderson in Pro Stock--were the biggest beneficiaries of the shakeup.
Schumacher pulled to within 94 points of leader Larry Dixon after he defeated Shawn Langdon in the Top Fuel final.
Langdon beat Dixon in the second round, which opened the door for Schumacher to make a major gain.
Schumacher's final round pass in the U.S. Army dragster was in 3.838 seconds at 320.43 mph. Langdon's Lucas Oil/Speedco dragster lost a cylinder at half-track and motored to a 3.908 seconds at 298.67 mph.
Hagan pulled the DieHard Dodge Charger into second place in the points when he defeated points leader John Force and the Castrol High Mileage Ford Mustang.
Hagan is now 25 points behind Force after running a final round 4.155 seconds at 294.63 mph to Force's 4.491 seconds at 203.74 mph.
Anderson cut Mike Edwards' Pro Stock lead to 16 points after Anderson's Summit Racing Pontiac beat Edwards and the Penhall Pontiac in the final. It's the second straight win for Anderson.
Anderson ran a 6.585 seconds at 209.39 mph to seal the win over Edwards, who had a 6.612 seconds at 208.46 mph.
