so i went to the track last night with my fiance & my brother.
i've had my car for 4 years & i have never launched, street raced, etc evarrrr (only auto-cross) but i've always wanted to give drag racing a try since it kind of runs in my family.
here are my runs [i would post the time slip but they're very lightly printed & my scanner/cameras all suck]
first:
i missed 2nd gear![]()
also- i didnt do a normal launch for fear of breaking my transmission. i just staged at the light & continuously revved to about 3-4k (i didnt hold it steady and drop the clutch or anything) when the light turned green i just kind of.. went. i dont really know how else to explain it.

on my 3rd run w/ my best time i beat an 03-05ish? mustang GT. he was decked out in his helmet all ready to kick ass [you dont need a helmet unless you run under 13's] & i totally beat him in every category. it felt nice.![]()

Grats Dez! Did you get any video footage? Put a camera in the car with you next time. I annoy my non-car lover facebook friends with my drag videos.

SWEET!
Nice job too.
There is an excitement and a rush just going up to the line and racing. I remember one time I knocked the rods out of the car, but still won that round. I drug the dually around for the next round. Unfortunately, I lost that round. But it was still a rush driving an 8,000 lb truck.
Drag racing is soooo much fun! You will do even better on your next trip as it just takes practice. Nothing better than puttin a beating on the car next to you....especially when it's a v8
Looks like big fun, Dez..if and when I wind up replacing my stock tranny with something beefier, I'll be headed to a dragstrip to see just how bad I am.![]()

Let me know if you make it back out on a better day. I just took mine out today for the first time, 88* air temp and netted a 14.48 best, with a 96mph best (not in the same run). The car felt real slow though, and I think it's because of the heat.
Question: My boost appears to be running one notch low, could this be the heat? My intercooler was hot to the touch, and in the past it has been just warm to the touch.

14.5 is pretty good for the first time at the track. I can't tell for sure but is your a 2002? I would be careful with dumping the clutch and launching with that transmission.
bugeye !
pm me if you need custom vinlys.
nope she's an 06. i didnt dump the clutch or launch so i think i should be okay w/ the tranny. i drive like a grandma 85% of the time anyway so she's been treated very well over the past 4 years lol
