    Ferrari Sets Nurburgring Record

Ferrari is reporting that its 599XX set a record on the legendary Nürburgring. The company says it is the first time a production-derived sports car has bested the 7-minute barrier on the classic 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit, lapping it in 6 minutes, 58.16 seconds. The 599XX, which inspired the 599 GTO, is designed for track use--but not for racing, Ferrari says. Only 29 copies will be built.

Is this going to be like the one ferrari were you buy it and it sits at the factory? And the only time you can use it is on ferraris track.

Di Simone makes it look easy but he's working, very impressive. I was most impressed with how apparently stable the car was over crests, because I could hear the throttle stay down and did not see any hint of yumping or loose ends. Even on exits from tight bends he could countersteer but the throttle would stay down a lot and I couldn't even tell if it was loss of mechanical lateral grip or wheelspin from throttle that made him saw at the wheel. Must be a great chassis.
