After launching the 2009 World Rally Championship season on the water-covered asphalt of Rally Ireland, the contenders will gather again to showcase their talent on the snow of Rally Norway. The second round of the championship takes place in the Hamar region from February 12th to 15th.

The Norwegian round begins next Thursday evening with a super special based in Oslo, the country's capital; the remainder of the event will take place over the three following days. A total distance of 1,218.72 kilometres will be competed upon, of which 375.04 are timed runs. It is also the first round of the PWRC.

At least some teams are representing Subaru in the WRC. Its kinda funny that a private team can run Subaru in the WRC, but a factory sponcered team can not seem to do the same WTF SWRT

yup tis a shame but it was Subaru/FHI that pulled the plug citing the world economy etc yadda yah yah same with Suzuki leaving the day before Subaru announced and then last week Mitsubishi withdrawing from Rally Raid events

actually pretty good this is a full on snow rally so the norwegians,finns and swedes have the home advantage

Five Minute Penalty for Arai !
Twice world Production Car rally champion Toshi Arai starts Rally Norway with a five minute penalty, because it was necessary to change the engine of his car after Shakedown.
Stewards gave permission for the car to be re-scrutineered for marking and sealing the engine just before the start of the first stage, in Oslo on the Thursday evening. The team confirmed the engine failed during Shakedown, for reasons not yet known, but that the Stewards said they must incur a penalty.
Only Manufacturers and Manufacturer Team drivers are allowed to change an engine without penalty before the start of a rally, and then only if the circumstances do not fall within the middle of a chain of paired events when the same engines must be used. This concession is not available to other drivers.
