I'm glad you guys are interested in the TDI Cup, tell everyone you know to watch it, it's some good racing!

The race that is being aired on Sunday is from VIR in Virginia and if you like wrecks, you'll love watching this one. It was our first race of the season and you can tell by how much bumping and grinding is going on, heck, I was one of only 4 cars out of 30 that finished the race without a scratch! All of our races from this season will be aired on SPEED Channel with the last airing being a documentary of the inaugural class of the Jetta TDI Cup.

I have the tentative SPEED Channel schedule for the TDI Cup races, but I can't find it right now, so when I do, I'll post up.

By the way, look for car #41, Taylor Broekemeier, that's me!
It's a blue car sponsored by "Bondurant SuperKart School" in white on the sides. My car changed for race #5 in Iowa to a black car sponsored by "Oakley" on the sides, but still #41. Both cars I had though were sponsored by "Fix-A-Divot" in green on the hood and front fenders, except for race #4 in Lime Rock where I was sponsored by "Laticrete" on the hood and front fenders.

PS. While it may not be as fast as my stage 2 '06 WRX, the TDI race car has gobs of torque and UNBELIEVABLE brakes, in fact, the front brakes are right off the R8 supercar!

I saw this as I was skimming through the action I needed to record this weekend. I did however pass it up but I will go back and record it based on the previous post.

I like watching the Star Mazda Series as well as the MX5 racing. Of course the only reason I am scanning Speed on the weekend is to try and catch some Grand-Am/Koni/Speed World Challenge action.

Thanks for the heads up....hopefully it's good close racing.

Beats the heck out of nascar.

Haha, you're right, I can't believe this is my first post either!

Don't be too amped up for me, I didn't do too well the first two races, started 29th at VIR and 27th at MoSport, but then figured some stuff out and didn't qualify outside 13th the rest of the season.

    Sat 11/1/08 3:00 p.m. Portland International Raceway

It's most definitely true! In fact, we only used a little over 2 tanks of diesel per race car for the ENTIRE season!

    Hmmm...their Auto's?

Do you put it in the "sport shift" or just let it decide where it's shifting? Can you change the shift points via the ECU?

It's the DSG transmission out of an R32 that the TDI Cup cars are running and we use only the sequential paddle shift on track, we don't even have the ability to use it as an automatic. So I decide when to shift, not the computer, and unlike the street version, if you hit redline it won't upshift on its own, it'll just bounce off the rev limiter. It's a solid transmission believe me, we put them through some serious beatings and there hasn't been a problem yet!

As far as the ECU goes, there's no shift points to be changed since I do all the shifting.
