New to forum so bear with me...I am getting ready to Auto X my 08 STi (Cumberland Md Airport Series)
The car is still stock, no mods. Anyone had a chance to play with the center diff and stability controls? Any advice?
Thanks.

You can at extreme instances notice it, Dccd all the way back makes the rear end a bit sqiurly, thats a bout it. Just keep it in auto and it will behave predictabaly. When your in auto X, becuase its awd. You'll have understeer attacking the apex if your going in too deep so go in wide inwards, and power over to pull out when the oversteer kicks in. It switches really quickly so be careful.
In snow or need tracking, lock does interesting things. especially on the track. In the snow its lovely.
thanks. I'll post results in May after our first event.
+1 for "keep it in auto". They keep making the car smarter every year with all sorts of sensors and stuff and those are best exploited in auto mode. (Don't worry, you still get to drive the car)
Maybe I will see you at Cumberland one of these days!

I planned to disable traction control and bounce between Auto and Auto Minus.
Also planning on getting set of Hoosiers if I have the time.
Looking forward to running a modern car. Last year I campaigned my 64 Vert Vette -- drum brakes and manual steering. My friends thought it was great but kids were tired of dad losing. Year before I ran an '04 Ram SRT-10. I was fast going straight but talk about pushing. I never quite got the nerve to "steer" using 505ft-lb of torque!

take advantage of the front sway bar allowance- you'll be pleasantly surprised
yeah Hoosiers would be a good move too
if you haven't got it aligned do so soon- see if you can find a shop willing to work w/ you a little- you'll want to maximize the front neg camber (a little toe out f/r wouldn't hurt either)- it's worth the extra effort to coax as much neg camber as possible

X2 on the front swaybar allowance!
I take it you're in BS?

thanks for the front sway bar tips. And I plan on as much neg camber aspossible. However, it's also my daily driver so I'd like to keep the toe as close to zero as possible.
I think the SCCA has a stock '08 in AS but you may be right. Either way, I want to avoid "street prepared" or other non-stock categories for now. Some of my "friends" gave me too much crap when my Vette was "slow."
