That is what I have heard, though I've seen one exception to the rule, there is a guy in SM around our parts who drives an N/A e36 coupe with a Euro Swap in it... He does VERY well on the Khumo MXs...

Another thing, the Hankooks like to get greasy after a couple laps on a track... found that out first hand.

Going to - he's picking em up on Saturday.

I'm just going to order some RE01R's and call it a day.

Eh, they are not *that* much more expensive than the Dunlops and they are a known quantity, sold by a company that has actually shown an interest in Solo. That's a good enough reason for me. Other than wheels/tires, and making my exhaust ST* legal, I don't have much to buy this year, AND I have not run on new tires since the beginning of 2004

Well you do have a point.
Ugh Exhaust STX legal... :-( I don't want to think about it... I have a random tech cat on the way, but I didn't throw any codes for 3k miles catless on a stock map.... the threw a code when a wire burned up!

Shaving them and carrying them to events

The RE01Rs will be for street, rain autox, and dry autox (when I am too lazy to change wheels). There are some low key local events that don't use SCCA classing where I would just leave the AD07's at home.

Last year I had to spend the tire budget on a new suspension instead, because my JIC's were in California ostensibly being rebuilt (the whole process took over 12 months), and my RE070's that I ran last year as summer/autox tires are pretty much kicked so I needed two sets of tires for this year anyway...

    *rationalize*

    John,

    nice rationalization!

Now I need to rationalize another set of wheels....

    JR, Mike, et all,

how are your STX legal exhaust systems coming? I know mike has the prodrive downpipe, what are you guys trying?

I'm lucky and my catless up pipe has the EGT bung etc intact. I think I am going to hack the ERZ downpipe and put the random tech cat in there and pray. I have till Topeka to get it right, as local region is really relaxed and I don't have competition in STX. Regionals and the Pro Solo that I signed up for may be different... :-(

For a DD/rain tire I'd actually consider going with the Toyo. Plus it's about $40 cheaper per tire.

My gutted stock uppipe and Invidia Catted DP are working like the mad champs I expected. I may get a custom SS 3" catback built with this muffler:

That will be later in the season though.

I pick up my TXS 2-cat downpipe on Friday. I will definitely keep this thread and the one on Nabisco updated. My PDE uppipe also has a bung, fortunately.

The R1R? Only place I see them is $179/tire at Good-Win-Racing. It's not going to truly be a DD tire as the MR2 (Jeff's old ES car) is going to be taking most of the miles (185,000 and counting) so I can go fairly aggressive. I do realize that it sounds a little insane

    JR,

That looks similar to what I may do if this deal with the Perrin Exhaust goes through... I was thinking of a Magnaflow bullet muffler, and then have the ability to change it to something else when I need the car a tad bit quieter... ie for a date.

No, that's all good. I really do think the Toyo's will make a great rain tire.

    These are my tire connections:

    McLenaghan Tire - Haverford, PA (610) 789-5988
The Tire Shoppe - Birdsboro, PA (866) 208-6551

Both these places can get you shaved tires.

I wish what works in one car translated to another car... I really liked the Evo I drove that had the RE01R and I also like the BMW with a Advans... The advans seemed to be a more predictable tire but a lot of that was probably due to car setup.... :-(

I wish there were more suby people in my area...
