David Richards and wife survive helicopter crash
17th September 2007
David Richards, the chief executive of Prodrive and prime mover in the recent acquisition of Aston Martin from Ford Motor Co., yesterday emerged without serious injury from a helicopter crash north of London. He and and his wife were returning from the Belgian F1 Grand Prix. Richards had just led tributes to the former world champion Colin McRae who, along with his five-year-old son, another child and a friend were killed on Saturday when their helicopter crashed in Scotland.
The incident involving Mr Richards adds to two fatal helicopter accidents involving motorsport and motor industry figures this year; Philip Carter, chairman of the training firm Carter & Carter plc, died in a helicopter accident earlier this year.
