want to get started in scca club racing

hey guys i have had it and i want to get into racing weather it is just at a regional level or hopefully maybe even at the national level basically what i would like more information on is the more popular classes and which types of cars are allowed and just a basic list of rules for the car mods i am searching the net and doing as much reading as i can but i am starting to get a little confused any help for a racing newb would be greatly appreciated

good to see someone getting excited about auto-x. well i have been delving into the auto-x world for about a few years now. i was driving a ford focus zx3 when i started in the sts class since i had a few minor mods on that took me out of the stock class. now i race my 02 wrx in the d-stock class because i dont have more than a boost gauge and a ram air intake done to it. after going stage 2 i will be bumped up to the stx class which is basically the class for modded evos and wrx's and sti's. what kind of stuff are you confused about?

well i was looking more for the scca club racing on road courses but from what i have found out is that i should start in auto x qso what i would like to know is what class i should run in and with a utec stage 4 wrx that is soon to have a 6 speed and possibly a 2.5 in it and also what do i have to not to to stay in that class

i would imagine you would be put into either stx class or street mod(SM). i am pretty sure this is the region you are in. http://www.flr-scca.com/ when you go to your first event they will help put you in the proper class. if i were you i would try and make it to the last events of this year cuz for most regions there is only maybe one more auto-x event. if you were closer to erie, pa i would say you could come meet me at my regions last event but hopefully i have helped in some small way.

I am also VERY interested in doing Auto-x I have been really into it a fora while but never really acted on it. is anyone in the Chicago area on here? i would really like to talk to somone in my area about the local auto x events.

Easiest place to start (and cheapest) would be SCCA's site, from there you can get the basics and if your still interested you can go to your regional solo II site and find schedule, location etc. WRX-Auto-X, with stage two i believe your far beyond STX. any increase in boost should throw you right into SM and i'd think catless would do the same.

To the OP: First thing you NEED to do is get a copy of the 2008 Club Racing Rule Book and read the thing cover to cover. This book will tell you everything you need to know about SCCA Club Racing.

I might also suggest that you consider buying a dedicated race car to go club racing (something like an F500 car comes to mind) or you simply AutoX and track day your WRX.
