I have a customer with a 02 wrx that is stg 2 with a header up pipe combo on it and he runs 13.0 flat and he gets high 1.6 and low 1.7 60 ft times, I get mid 1.6 60 ft times in my wifes forester, and another customer runs mid 1.6 60 ft times in his 2003 wrx with hybrid build. so it is possible to get there but its more than just power that gives you the ability to get good 60 ft times. on a lower power stock turbo wrx the key to getting a good launch is all in the wheel and tire choice. we have always done best with stock wheels and stock tires aired up to about 55 psi. you get some wheel spin but not to much and then it takes off. hope that helps.

    thanks-

I was running the stock 16x6.5's on Dunlop Firece Instinct all seasons 225/50/16 in around 35 PSI

I will say Ive noticed that the tires SUCK for hooking in dry conditions, I was slipping the clutch on my best runs. I tried a few times dumping it or slipping it a little more aggressively but bogged or spun instead of hooking up. That 60' was my best, I had several 2.1's and 2.2's.

there are 2 known ways of launching your car to achieve good 60 ft times, 1 is slipping the clutch just right and away you go. the other is spin the tires in a controlled manner. I prefer to spin the tires as they are alot cheaper and easier to replace. I start off at about 50 psi in the tires and i start out holding the rpms at about 5500 rpm. when I am about to go I drop the clutch as fast as I can and I floor the gas at the same time so basically by the time the clutch is fully out my gas pedal is fully pressed to the floor. it should spin all four tires for about 1 to 1.5 seconds and then tear out of the hole like never before. if you get too much spin then lower the tire pressure, if you dont get enough tire spin then raise the tire pressure. I never go over 65 psi if I still cant spin at 65 psi I either raise my rpm I am starting from or I line the car up outside of the groove so the isnt as much traction. also I never go below 25 psi in the tires if I am still spinning too much then I lower the rpm I am starting at. hope that will help you a little the next time you go and race your car.

    thanks-

when I get any sort of slip at all (besides the chirp) my 60ft times shoot to 2.0 and my ET's shoot to 13.9's...

My best is a 1.81 60ft w/ LC at 5200rpm. I slip very very fast, but no drop.

I just don't get how that 02 WRX is getting 1.6's... Altitude doesn't affect 60ft THAT much, does it??

    List updated.
Nice posts on launching. FYI, when you adjust your tire pressure, always start high and go down from there.

    Driver mod maybe?

I know of a guy in denver with a stage 2 07 that runs 13.7 at bandi...

There's a guy locally with an 09 stage 2 that ran 13.7 at pmi, i ran his buddy who's got an 09 stage 2 that runs just as well, i managed to pull about a car on him...

with 293whp 346wtq i'd imagine your car has a lot better than a 13.4 in it. You should be able to cut a 1.6 60' with that much tq.

I believe you would need some drag radials or slicks and a healthy drivetrain to achieve a 1.6 60 ft.

I don't buy the stage 2 07. Complete horse crap. Look at the allwheeldrivepirates website and the numbers from local drivers at bandimere.

The 293whp is adjusted to sealevel... here it's about 252... which is quite a fair amount. I buy the 09 stage 2 at pueblo getting 13.7. Pueblo is at 4600ft... bandimere 6000ft. His 09 stage 2 would probably get about 14.0 up here.

That "driver mod" comment is a pretty big fall back. Come out to bandimere and see what you can get

first time at the track with the stock 04 sti last night. track was horrible. no traction even for a awd car. weather was nice high 70s very mild humidity. third and last pass of the night was my best. didn't see a point in beating it up more to go any faster. a sticky track and a cooler day is what it needs.

    Change my time to a 10.353 @ 137.69 mph with a 1.51 60ft please!

Exact same setup as last year except for different wheels and tires and a rallispec 6spd. This was the first time out on the new trans and the syncros were definately tight still which slowed shifts way down. The track was also prepped horribly and spun to a 1.51 60ft. With good clean shifts and my normal 1.4 60fts the car had a 9.80 - 9.90 @ 140mph pass in it for sure. I have a head gasket leaking so the motors coming out and im finally going to build the heads, never accomplised my goal of going 9's at over 140mph on stock heads with aftermarket cams but oh well. Trying to go deep into the 9's @ 145+ mph on a stock sleave bottom end.

I think the car could do low 13s maybe even a 12.9 with a competent driver.
