Why is the WRX a D class but the BRZ a C?

Because handling > Power in AutoX. This might change for the new WRX.

I'm a bit peeved about that actually. The 2015 WRX remains in the D-street class which is crap considering the gap has been closed compared to the STi (B-Street). This makes the 2015 WRX the car to have for Auto-X this year. That might explain why 8 out of the 9 ranked ProSolo D-Street competitors are rocking a 2015 WRX:

I heard the STU class is WAY more competitive than the DS class.. I wanted RCE springs but don't want to move to STU...

To add a bit to this.

    Street Touring Classes
Subaru BRZ (2012 to present) - STX
    Subaru WRX (2009 to 2014) - STU
Subaru WRX (2002 to 2008 and 2015 to present) - STX
Subaru WRX STi (2004 to present) - STU
    Subaru Impreza 2.5RS (1998 to 2001) - STS
Subaru Impreza 2.0i (2012 to present) - STF (don't understand this since it's street touring FWD)
Subaru Impreza 1.8 FWD (all years) - STS
Subaru Legacy GT (2005-2008) - STX
    Subaru Legacy (1990 to 1994) - STS
    Subaru Forester XT(2003 to 2008) - STX

Info about street touring classes can be found on the SCCA site

If you have suspension mods but running stock boost (can't modify the boost table), there's a great chance you land in this class.
It's a street class so 200tw tires at a minimum.
