Talking TIVO TIME- 9:00 on the History Channel- Buliding the 85 GN

If you read this and have the History Channel, they is going to be a competition between 2 groups of grease monkeys. It will be who can build the fastest 1985 Grand National. They just showed a coming attraction for tonight and these cars sounded like 747 launching down the tracking!

This is a must see for the turbo crack head!! Time to fire up the VCR!!!

Talking Those cars were in some serious pain!

Being that my first turbo car was a GN and I've been working on them for quite some time I can say those cars were in pain. They show managed to order up practically every part short of a new engine that could make some wild power and all the managed to muster up was a 14.57 @ 95 mph...that is sooooo SAD.

That turbo they dropped on was a standard Stg 3 turbo which flows in the area of about 600 cfm. I read the credits and saw that ATR (Apllied Technolgy Reseach) was on the top of the list so I am willing to be those cars got their Headers, Chips, Squirters and Snails from them. To drop on all of those major power parts and only get mid-14s, something is really not right. When I heard those TOOLS the emminem brothers spew their trash about gaining real horsepower at 15 psi, I felt like yaking on the TV. Everyone who knows GNs know those motors like lots of psi and can hold it without a problem. Most if not all GNs that have mods run anywhere from 17-21psi and hit the 12s with the greatest of ease.

If you guys saw the show, we all know that with that much work we were looking at 11 second cars but I feel those chips were burned for those GN noobs on the show.

As you can tell I miss my GN and wish I never sold it, but when I close on my house I will be buying one for my garage. Then I'm going to throw a big tri-state turbo party in honor of GN that now in my life, I will have the cash to break parts and not care !

Unfortunately I set my Tivo to catch that and yeah I laughed my butt off at em

#1 they were hot air GN's but, hey they prolly got em cheap cause they were the early settup. Saw them put on MSD ingnitions and the new small turbo's but when these non Q/M guys were driving THAT was a major part of the sad ET's

If they loaded em instead of just driving em off the line they may have done a lil better
