Thumbs up MD: Emergency Turbo Rebuild?

Hey guys. I have a buddy who is having a really rough time with his DSM. He needs a turbo rebuild ASAP. His car was pouring blue smoke out his tailpipe tonight. He has been reporting a major loss of power when the turbo SHOULD be spooling, but he says that he has no power at all (1-2 psi). We know it is burning oil, but this is rediculous. He has decided to take it off the road for now, but he still needs to get to work, etc. We suspect the bearings in the turbo are shot. Do any of you guys know a quality shop, that is local to Baltimore, that would be able to rebuild his turbo?

cool, that is a start. i will look them up and pass the info off to me friend.

i was reading somewhere on a dsm forum that turbo rebuilds are not very difficult? some pleace offer kits for the rebuild. i personally have never had a turbo in my hands, outside of the car, so i have no idea. i guess i may have to post up in one of the other forum sections to get that part figured out.

I read an article on how to rebuild a t3 but I'd be no means feel comfortable opening one up and hoping for the best.

i feel the same. i would try it if my car did not depend on it, tho. if i had a spare turbo to rip open and learn on, then great.

    Taz,
Call em Tuesday. They will be available at the shop, hell you might even reach me on the phone when you call. (I work there now) I'm sure Hill could do something for your buddy regarding his turbo.
