Question Where to take old coolant?

I just called Autozone here in Greenville, NC and the woman I spoke with does not know of any place that disposes of old coolant??? Does anyone know how to go about getting rid of it? I wanted to take out the poop radiator tonight so I'll be all ready for the new one tomorrow...

Call your city DPW, local shops, other parts stores that may recycle.

Used Anti-freeze is accepted at the Pitt County Transfer Station. However, it must be anti-freeze only (meaning it can NOT be contaminated at all by oil, etc.) and maintained in a sturdy closed container. Call the Pitt County Landfill at 830-2599 for additional information.

Thanks J, I appreciate it. Once I get out of class I'll do more research and find definitive answers. If not, I guess I'll just have some nice, good 'ol coolant sitting in a container in my apt

I thought I had heard that somewhere too...but I don't know what sort of coolant is in there right now. I had a 90,000 service done recently but I can't remember if they flushed the coolant system or not.. I'll have to check.

I feel the joke, but I also sense the hint of seriousness behind that comment...
