It's good to hear that you got the car back. Unfortunately, most of the cars taken in NJ end up in East Orange. The scary thing is that the theives seem to be coming further south now.

Question for you. Which tow impound company did you have to deal with to get the car back?

Get a cable hood lock. That's not fun to defeat.

After reviewing all of the antitheft devices on the market, I've found the following to be the best options.

#1 Ravelco. Hard as hell to defeat, not expensive, convenient to use. ~$350
#2 Simple, custom hidden cut off switch for fuel or other circuit.
#3 Accessport with hood lock to prevent battery defeat.
#4 GPS based car alarm. Expensive. Instant notification of theft of car by phone, email, pager. Live tracking of car for your call to 911.

Lojack sucks; it's easy to locate and remove. Some of these thieves install the things as their day job. Also, by the time the cops actually locate a car it's going to be stripped. Alarms alone suck. The club/autolock/shifter lock does not work.

If you have an alarm and you think your car is safe, this is what a thief or thieves in my case (car was stolen once wiht this method, caught them on the second attemp with same method.)

Some of you will cry "DELETE THAT". Please. If we have all knowledge on how to defeat security on the car in the open then you the owner know what will work and what will not. The thieves ALREADY KNOW THIS. They're not stupid and they're not cruising car forums to find out how to steal your car and know far more about stealing than you ever will.

I'll take knowledge over blind faith and ignorance any day.

Other good security measures. Rewire your power door lock switch not to work with the ignition off. Simple. Get two good security devices, any combination of what is mentioned above.

Folks, can we please not publish how to defeat security on public boards. There is a very good chance the thieves are reading the forums.
