The blow off valve that comes with the car works fine up to about the 400whp mark. After that, if you need an upgraded unit because of a quantifiable performance deficit in the stock unit that your tuner has identified through the process of dialing in the car, the replacement unit should be a recirculating model or you should modify the car to no longer rely on the stock MAF sensor for tuning and convert to either a MAP or Blow Through MAF system.

Not sure about used STi's...it's like trying to pick out milk in the grocery store...some times it's good, sometimes it's just spoiled because of improper handling. Same goes for sports cars. You have to go over it with a fine tooth comb and make an informed decision based on your gut feeling of the car and the price being asked for it.
i just read your post on buying a sti, and thanks those r all good points you bring up. i just have some questions about the 04 sti, as i said in my profile i co owned a 05' sti in 05'. but it never got over 27k on it. my new market price puts me into a sti with 66k on it. when do things start to go bad on the sti. the sti i m looking at is fully stock and the owner seems kind and not the type to beat on it. i drove it and the turbo still pulls strong and grear box is smooth. but what should i expect the life of the factory turbo to really get to? and other major parts of the car. thanks for all the help. also if i remember the back end does have some sounds to them when going over bumps right? from the stiff suspention.
